Korlund

Backstory

Korlund was found as a puppy of less than one years old, abandoned or lost in the thick of Atlosian rain season. He was discovered by an old woman-of-few-words kirunhound, but she could not fit inside his hidey-hole or convince him to come out. A travelling group of merchants, well known to the hound, were nearby just in time. Tanya, a young girl of thirteen, was the only one small enough to fit in the hole. He took to her almost immediately, refusing help from anyone else -- it was assumed this was because everyone else was simply too big and threatening.

None of the merchants' attempts to find his birth family was successful. After they could no longer afford to keep looking, they attempted to find an adoptive family within the kirunhound populations. By this point, Korlund had spent months with the caravan, and he'd already received a "placeholder" name. Suffice to say, most of the caravan were by this point just a little bit attached to the pup. Much to the leader's ire, they never did find someone else to take on the pup's care.

Korlund remained with the caravan until one year after Tanya left to settle in the Atlosian capital city. He'd grown to miss her, and was never hugely fond of trekking through the mud. (With his recent growth spurts and no Tanya to con the leader into being lax, they had stopped letting him ride in the carts.) Tanya was happy to let him live with her and her fiance, and though the caravan was sad to see him go, they had no problems leaving him in tanya's care -- they all knew she'd always have the strongest relationship with the pup. He saw them periodically after this, during their time spent in the capital trading and visiting Tanya.
