Spitzer was launched in 2003, after years of delay due to the Challenger disaster and numerous budget cuts. The constant budget cuts experienced by NASA intrigued Spitzer, driving him to study law alongside astrophysics. He now serves as a defense attorney specializing in mission extension and anti-cancellation measures.

Notable Clients

James Webb

Webb was bound to be terminated by Congress in 2011, but due to contributions by scientists, engineers, and legal counsel, was able to continue construction until his eventual launch in 2021.

New Horizons

There were speculations that New Horizons' mission would have a premature end, which turned out to be slightly true as N.H. was planned to be re-assigned to a heliophysics mission in 2023. Recognizing how redundant that task would be, Spitzer stepped up to their defense and gave the committee the necessary evidence, guaranteeing N.H.'s mission extension for another few years.
