Feared across the island chain, Bourdain the Shark was a cutthroat, heartless pirate who terrorized the coast alongside his three children. After his defeat and capture, he smoothtalked his way into a partial freedom, so long as he helps the captor's crew, which has softened more and more the longer he's out and not proving a threat. He's in no hurry to return to his family or to his sea, just to keep living however he pleases.
