brains

Eiko is a creative visionary & a very talented artist who can very easily spend all her time alone observing the natural world around her for inspiration. She is kind, mild-mannered and tends to fall behind the crowd, but fortunately her twin brother is there to pull her along and make sure she's not forgotten. She very much goes with the flow and just lets things happen - if it'll be, it'll be!

A big daydreamer, she's often lost in her own internal world which means she can miss things and sometimes comes across as unintentionally disrespectful; she has been chastised a lot for being away with the fairies and not listening. .

hobbies &interests!
Art: Eiko likes to spend as much of her time creating as possible, seeing artistic potential everywhere in her surroundings. She likes to draw & paint in many mediums, and carries around a sketchbook wherever she goes incase there's something to sketch.
Collecting: Eiko loves to collect anything and everything: pencils, jewellery, postcards, hairclips, beads, flowers - the list goes on! If she thinks something's pretty, she'll take it home with her; all these little things come with nice memories no matter how small that she can look back on.
habits &mannerisms
  • Her eyes wander a lot in conversation
  • She has a habit of mixing up words & sayings which sometimes makese people laugh
  • She tends to forget to reply to messages a lot

values

The values Eiko hold highest are creativity, inner peace and thankfulness. She thinks it's incredibly important to find your true happiness and to show gratitude to all those who have lent you a hand, no matter how simple or how long ago.

taboos

Not paying proper respect to your surroundings is a big no for Eiko, ESPECIALLY the natural world. She believes everything has meaning, therefore you must care for your environment and things like vandalism or disrespecting rules can easily sour her view on someone.

faith

Eiko is actually Shintoist and grew up surrounded by her religion, making her beliefs very strong. As she's grown older her views have changed slightly and she is not as strict as she used to be, but still holds a lot of core beliefs close.

technology

She is more used to technology from a few years ago but is still familiar with the newer things since her university is stuffed with more recently released tech. She actually has a flip phone and has no desire to get something more modern.

magic

Moreso mythology and divinity than magic, but Eiko believes in Kami and that they are found everywhere.

nature

Nature is incredibly important to her both in regards to her beliefs and to her love of art. She feels very strongly about environmental issues and cares for nature as much as she can; she keeps a small garden.

love

Eiko believes love is an important thing to have and does her best to regularly express her care for her loved ones, not necessarily through her words but through her actions. Platonic and familial love are just as important as romantic love to her.

family

To her, family is very important - both those who came before her and the family she will form as an adult. She believes in respecting older family members/ figures, even if you don't enitrely get along, and holds her own family close to her heart. However, she understands this isn't always the case for others and doesn't judge them for it - personal happiness is one of her key values after all.

success

Success to her is reaching satisfaction and finding your own inner peace, however and wherever that may be. Riches or acclaim don't really contribute to her idea of success and she would much rather work slowly towards her happiness at her own pace. As long as she can look back and say she regrets nothing, Eiko will be content.

tl;dr!
  • Born in rural Japan
  • Grew up around her family's shrine
  • Relocated to her current location
  • Began pursuing art more seriously

Eiko was born alongside her twin brother Yuta in Hyogo, Japan. Her family ran a local shrine which is where Eiko spent most of her time growing up, and once she grew old enough she became a shrine maiden. The Shinto religion was instilled in both siblings young and Eiko developed a deep love and respect for her surroundings, both natural and manmade; she felt particularly connected to the plantlife around her.

As she got older, she started to find more of herself and picked up the hobby of drawing - nothing amazing, just things that stood out to her day-to-day. More senior members of her family were pushing her to evnetually inherit the shrine, which Eiko didn't want. She'd been visiting bigger cities with friends on trips out and been drawn in by things people like her traditional grandparents would tut and mutter about. Faced with two very different lifestyles, she had to reflect on what mattered to her most.

Tensions grew the more Eiko decided what she wanted to do with her life - especially when she found a fascination with tattoos. Your body is sacred, gifted by your parents and the gods, so defiling it with piercings & tattoos is disrespectful; Eiko knew this, but she also appreciated the beauty of self-expression and the permanence of your skin as a canvas, something to tell stories on. When her father announced needing to move abroad for work, she decided to go with him & explore her new interests. She was never very good at English and the adjustment was difficult, but she stills makes the effort today to keep learning.

A few years on, Eiko has found more of a balance between her aspirations and religious beliefs, something that doesn't bode well with other family members but it's her life & her happiness at the end of the day. She misses home and wants to go back to visit soon; she keeps to a lot of her old routines to quell the homesickness, whilst also making new exciting ones. All of her sketch practice has manifested into an art degree with a tattoo apprenticeship and she looks forward to be able to ink meaningful designs & legacies onto people's skin.

Yuta is Eiko's younger twin brother, although he is often mistaken as the older one, and the most important person in her life. He might be her opposite, but they have a connection deeper than words and she cares about her 'baby' brother more than anything. She always keeps a watchful eye out for him.

Adeline and Eiko are very similar in nature which makes it easy for the two of them to get along. Their friendship formed off of a shared love of flora, and they regularly visit local florists, parks & gardens to admire what's growing. They are both quite quiet wallflowers comfortable with silence, so they have a peaceful friendship.

emotional

Eiko believes in the good in everyone and loves easily, so gets caught by surprise whenever she finally realises feelings for somebody. When she does like someone romantically, she's much more engaged in conversation with them and likes to do small things for them.

physical

She doesn't seek out physical affection very much for herself, but is more than happy to give it to someone who asks. She's very subtle/ private when she is affectionate with somebody, particularly in public.

attraction
in others: She is most attracted to someone who has passion for something, whether it be a hobby, job or even just a conversation topic! Dedication to and care for something you enjoy very much gives her good vibes about someone. She is also attracted to integrity and stable optimism - not necessarily the bright sunny optimistic stereotype, instead something more steady and comforting.
in self: Eiko thinks her kindness and good nature is her greatest strength and her most attractive feature. She makes an effort to be amiable with everyone she comes across and hopes that's appealing to others. Physically, she thinks her best & favourite feature is her eyes.
