"Gosh I miss tha farm..."

Childhood - [0 - 9]

Southwell Village, a small- very religious farming village on Emerald, was the place Destiny Flint was born on a late autumn evening. His mother, Wendy, a sickly Sylveon was delighted to meet her newborn eevee son after a rough birth, as was his father, a Seviper named Gunther (although a bit hesitant to hold the baby). The two owned a small farm about a half hour horse ride out of Southwell Village, with just a few animals and crops, but it supported their family perfectly fine. As small as Southwell was, and being one of two small farms, it was easy to find customers during the morning markets.

It was a tightnic community, most- if not all of the citizens going to the same church every Sunday- and sometimes even more. The church was so influential for the village that it actually had a daycare and small school, both in which Destiny attended growing up.

The small shiny eevee began school at 5, often going early- riding on the back of his fathers cart into town every morning when he went to sell at the morning market. Destiny had no issues making friends in school, he was a social kid with a lot of energy! However, due to his mother always being sickly, she and his father warned him to maybe not be very physical with other kids. They were not sure if Destiny’s immune system was going to be as weak as his mothers, and didn’t want to take any risks- assume keeping his hands to himself would help keep him free of germs. Destiny did and didn’t follow this rule- it was easy to forget, being a young child, but as he got older be slowly became less affectionate with other children.

Destiny had average grades in school, clearly having more of a knack for physical work in the end. After school hours, the son of the people who owned the church, Aurelius, would often babysit him at the Church, and the two of them would play or do odd jobs together. Destiny Aurelius being a few years older than Destiny, the the two were fast friends, Destiny often tailing him around the village whenever he could.

After school hours, Destiny would spend most of his time with his mother. She would teach him to cook and bake, and do chores around the house and farm! The two of them were close, much closer than Destiny was with his father since he tended to go hunting quite a lot, leaving Wendy to watch Destiny and the farm.

Mothers Death - [ 10 ]

When Destiny was around 10 years old, his mother became pregnant again, which Wendy and Gunther pretended to be excited for in front of Destiny! However, there was some concern for the Sylveons health behind the scenes, Gunther being particularly stressed while she did her best to soothe his worries.

Although, in the end Gunthers concerns were correct.

Around the tail end of Wendy’s pregnancy, she went into labor a week earlier than expected. At this time, Gunther was out of town on his last hunting trip before his second child was do, so it was just his wife, Destiny, and Aurelius who was babysitting while Wendy was stuck in bed. It was already late into the night when the Sylveon called to wake up the boys in a panic, her water had broke in her sleep and she’d only now woken up because of the worsening pain of her contractions. She was going to give birth soon and she needed a doctor.

Being the older one, Aurelius was to stay with Wendy while Destiny rode into town to get a doctor, thus Destiny grabbed one of the skiddos, (one of the only farm animals he knew how to ride alone) and rushed towards down.

Though, the trail was dark and windy that night, the sky was cloudy leaving there to be little to no light. Hardly half way into town, Destinys Skiddo stepped in a pothole on the dirt rode and sprained its foreleg, leaving it unable to run. In a panic, the young Eevee wasn’t sure how much time he had! So, instead of running home to get a new mount, he continued running on foot towards town. Minutes passed as panic grew in his chest, it taking him over an hour to run all the way into town and get to the doctors office. One the boy did arrive and managed to wake the doctor up, he and the man rode back out to the farm as fast as they could. It took almost 2 hours to get Wendy a doctor, and by the time they arrived the woman was near death, and the baby Seviper was a stillborn.

Destiny never seen the baby, nore did he ever know the gruesome details of what Aurelius had to deal with that night, all he knew was that his sibling didn’t make it, and his mother died the next morning. He was told by the doctor that his mother's health mixed with the poison type infant was too much for her body, and that’s why she’d passed away.

When his father finally arrived back home, it was the first time Destiny had ever seen the large man break down and cry. Gunther didn’t so much as hug his child, after he broke down he acted as though he wanted nothing to do with his son, hardly being able to look at him. Destiny couldn’t wrap his head around it- losing his mother… his father ignoring him, it was a lot for him to take in, leaving the small boy blaming himself for the death of his mother and sibling in the end.

Teenage - [11 - 18]

The funeral came and went and Destiny went back to school. It was the same as before, he’d ride on the back of his fathers cart- just now in silence. On the days his father was hunting, he’d stay with some family in town. He was far less energetic at school, his grades dropping a bit, but he managed to graduate when he was 12.

After that, Destiny was to begin working on the farm, it was the most time he’d spent with his father in the past 2 years as the Seviper teached the eevee the ins and outs of running the farm. He was expected to keep the farm running in Gunther’s absence, and the little eevee was determined to make his father proud- hoping that maybe he could win back the man’s affection if he did a good job.

However that was never the case.

Destiny took over, his cousins frequently stopping by the check on him and help him the first few years. Gunther would leave for a week and come back for a few days before leaving again, at times he’d be gone for up to 2+ weeks leaving Destiny to have to ask for help to bring stock into town so he could sell stuff. He had no idea what his father was doing, but over time the young boy was beginning to get lonely.

By the time Destiny was 16, he’d stopped even sleeping in the house- instead sleeping in the barn with the animals. His father was still always away “hunting”, however Destiny doubted he’d been hunting the days he’d show up smelling like booze with little money to show for his time away. Though, Destiny couldn’t find it in him to hate the man… Without any therapy or anyone to talk to, Destiny still blamed himself for the death of his mother, and almost felt like his father's actions were justified- he just wished he knew how to make things better… or even just feel normal.

The farm animals were his only form of companionship now, even his cousins had to stop coming by as much thanks to them having another child. By now Destiny had grown up a lot at least, the farm chores had become very natural to him all the way down to packing and selling things at the market. It kept him busy and he appreciated that. When he wasn’t working, the white fox often just slept with the animals or played with them, he appreciated how they loved him unconditionally and always seemed excited to see him… they kept him sane through all the loneliness and in the end, were what made him evolve into a Sylveon.

Evolving was like turning a new leaf for Destiny- although it didn’t take away his guilt or fix any of his relationships, it did give him a sense of… adulthood. He worked further on the farm even without his fathers permission, the man was hardly around at this point and things needed to be done. It got to the point where Destiny managed to higher someone to help him out so he could go into the village more and he slowly began to rebuild his relationships with other people to a more personal degree.

Adulthood - [19 - 24]

Years went by and things started to improve for Destiny. He was still lonely but he was still getting a fair amount of social interaction- more than he has been the years before. However the kid, just turned 20, needed some kind of change in his life, and he was willing to take anything. Destiny played with the idea of selling the farm numerous times, thinking about what it’d be like to travel or start some new kind of business. At this point, the last time he’d seen his father was about a year ago, and he’d almost forgot about the man by now… After being so busy for so long and his fathers visits always being for few and far between, the man was more like a stranger to him than family.

But finally, the Sylveon got the push he needed to finally leave. Over tea, Aurelius had mentioned to him that he was planning on leaving the village to travel around the region in order to expand the church, and was looking for a few people to bring with him. And with that, Destiny quickly offered to come.

It only took a few months for him to sell the farm, and soon he found himself packing and saying goodbye to his beloved animals. It was difficult saying goodbye to his farm, but the family taking over were ones he could trust. While he was packing however, he came across something under his parents old bed… A letter to him from his mother. At the time Destiny had decided he was too busy to read it, knowing it’d make him emotional… thus, he just kept putting it off out of fear, and to this day hasn’t read it.

Finally came the day they left! Aurelius, Destiny and a few other church members got together and left to travel the region, starting with Emerald. Their travels continued for about 4 years, the group returning home every Christmas to visit with their families for a while before leaving again. They managed to cover all of Emerald, Sapphire, and a bit of Ruby.

The group was on another trip around Emerald (since it’d been a few years now) when disaster struck.

Disaster - [24]

When the storm began the group was quickly split up, leaving Destiny with just his Ninetales friend through the whole mess. The two had been lucky to find shelter, a small abandoned caves around one of their trails to wait out the storm in. The Mudstale had gone berserk, pulling away their cart leaving the two with nothing but the bags on their back. Despite their bad luck losing their group and belongings, no one got hurt outside of a few bruises and scratches. However watching the destruction even from the safety of their hiding spot was terrifying all on its own.

Disaster - [24]

Immediately after the storm subsided and the two managed to collect themselves, they hurried to the next town, and for the next little while they slowly made their way from town to town making an attempt to find their way home again. It took awhile, but eventually the two of them did manage to make it home.

Unfortunately, the once lively country town had been trashed by the disaster, leaving homes and churches destroyed and very few people remaining in the village. Those who did remain were older members of the community who survived the disaster and refused to leave. It was a comfort to see that some members of their community had survived but seeing the town in ruins was absolutely devastating for the pair.

They’d also found out that most of the survivors had left to move on to a new location, however the left over bunch didn’t know where they’d gone. And so, Destiny and Aurelius stayed a few months, helping out with getting the left over bits of their home village back on their feet… but after long, they were both feeling it was time to move on. Their village wasn’t safe and there wasn’t much moving forwards with their lives if they decided to stay…

And so, without the stubborn group who decided to stay, Destiny and Aurelius decided to move on. They moved from town to town, finding themselves in the middle of traveling during the first pink moon, ending in Aurelius getting hurt and the two of them having to rush to the next town- that being Everstone, and also where they decided to stay.

Once in Everstone, the boys finally had the chance to catch up on what was happening around the world- Mystery Dungeons had been popping up all over the region and Guilds were opening up to help save those affected by the dungeons. It was all a lot to take in, but the duo was intrigued nonetheless. It wasn’t until after the second pink moon did the two decide they should also take action and join the guild, seeing as the city, and region. could use all the help it can get!
