Profile
Sophie Lewis
Sophie lives in an abandoned barbers shop with her band, The Dumpsterfires. They suck, but she can lay a pretty mean drum solo. As well as drums, she's also written a few of their songs. She used to be their main writer, but she lost passion for it.
A lot of her old songs had a melancholy feel to them, and she insisted that they should be less intense than their other tracks, you could tell if a song had Sophie behind its lyrics just by listening to the first three seconds. Nowadays the songs that she's behind are more upbeat rock with a cold twang.
She's the main one in charge of fending their hideout from the undead. Her main weapon is her hefty backpack, which is as great for bashing zombies to death as it is for long scavenging hunts.
She's dating the band's pianist, James, and has been for a few years. The pair complete one another. Sophie's bold and positive attitude mixes well with the absolute nervous wreck that her boyfriend is, opposites attract or however the saying goes. They love each other, a lot.
Before the apocalypse Sophie was a weird kid, she always spoke a little off and was keen to impress people, but didn't understand what impressed people. Her home wasn't great. She never considered any of it harmful at the time that it was ongoing, it was just what she was used to. Her upbringing left her subconsciously desperate for everyone's approval, a trait that she still unfortunately carries today.
She's more comfortable with it nowadays, but in the first year of the apocalypse she was persuaded into a cult against her better judgement. Their goal was simple, feed The Bomber, the man-eating-ultra-zombie threatening the last of humanity. To young Sophie it sounded great. She'd heard the stories, she would be helping people, and she needed a place to go. It all worked out.
Four years passed. Completely desensitized to the site of blood and now no stranger to a kill count, Sophie followed her twisted family through night after night on search for the next sacrifice.
She still isn't fully sure what drove her to escape her cult, but she's with better people now. She's semi-mute due to the trauma, mostly speaking through screaming and tapping, but still sometimes managing to muster up a short sentence, always shouted of course (she likes to be loud.)
Sophie still wears the mask her cult gave her, not wearing it out of some sick familiar comfort it gives her, but instead to wear it as a way to say that she survived, she wears it to send a message, to threaten those who oppose her life. She wears it to show that there is a way out, that recovery isn't instinct... Also, it looks sick.
