Baldur, otherwise known as Baldr or Balder, is the son of Odin, king of the Aesir, and his queen, Frigga. He was well-loved by everyone but ultimately died due to the machinations of Loki, despite his mother's attempts to thrwart this. His death was the harbringer of Ragnorak. But despite it all, after Ragnorak, Baldur rose once again, granted a second chance at life. The name Baldur is derived from Balðraz in proto-Germanic, meaning "hero" or "prince".
