About
The tallest (hah, take that Quentin!) and horsey Wayward, Ares is always ready to help people in need. If you need muscles and quick hooves to escape tricky situations, you can always count on the yellowest of the cowboys around. Yeehaw, partner!
It's undeniable his heart belongs to one Lanternal only - and you *will* know about it, since being in love with Juno is now part of his personality. But we forgive them.
Also, if you've seen any horses around Flicker Florest... That wasn't them.
Personality
As much as they try to hide it and look intelectual and fancy, it's undeniable Ares' the personification of a golden retriever who gets too excited sometimes, and ends up jumping around and stepping onto people's feet. Ares is very outgoing, humble, kind and loud, always trying their best to make people feel good - sometimes at the expense of his own happiness. A hopeless romantic even before meeting the Lanternal of his life.

Whatever he wears will always show his ashmarks and will always be some sort of yellow. They only have four braids due to being impatience.

Backstory
The first memory Ares has is laying at a Ginkgo's tree roots, surrounded by fireflies. He was feeling calm and peaceful... And alone. He built their home on top of the same tree, thus receiving the nickname whenever people passed by and only saw a faint light coming from inside. That was his secret place - somewhere they'd go whenever they need a bit of space from the rest of the world.
Most of his life was spent inside the Flicker Forest, trying to find a place to call their own, but constantly failing. There always seemed to be missing a piece in one way or another.
When he met Waylon and became friends, Ares was introduced to a life of fun: drinking, joking around, flirting without any compromise... And the best part of all: HORSES! Those little beings were so similar to him... He couldn't keep them for the humans when they could be free somewhere else, could he?
Being one of the original members of the Waywards, Ares quickly took the nickname Sunsteed to themselves. Wanting not only to do the right thing but also spend more time with his friends, Ares was slowly finding himself. That was until [REDACTED].
Although their heart of gold never ceased to beat, the incident changed Ares' perspective in life. They became more caring and less daring, spending more time with their thoughts. Changes were never easy for Ares to deal with - and grief not only for what was and could be, but for a part of him that was suddenly gone, was umbearable. Whenever the Waywards were away from him, he found himself in his secret place, alone with their thoughts. They forced themselves to keep going, mostly to help their friends in need.
Meeting Juno was another breaking point. Her initial rejection without any aparent reason was enough for Ares to doubt themselves. But as more of her past was revealed, Ares understood that not every bad thing that his friends went through was his fault. They promised themselves they wouldn't hide their feelings anymore.
FUTURE: After [REDACTED], Ares found themselves lost again. The pain was too much for him to try to fix it. He became rather gloomy, crying every day - this time, actually allowing himself to grieve. Ultimately, they decided to [REDACTED], even if Juno wouldn't accompany him. It was his decision to make the right thing. As he and Juno made up eventually, he decided to help his brother-in-law - in their own way, to take a break from the Waywards too.
Relationships
Juno
One of the many victims saved by the Waywards, there was a different glow coming from Juno (puns always intended). If such a gorgeous and delicate being could love him, than maybe Ares wasn't that bad in the end...
Vulcan
Vulcan's the complete opposite of Ares. His similarity with Waylon's personality was a bit offputting when Ares met him, but otherwise he was happy to meet someone so close to Juno.
Waylon
Their first friend and the leader of the group, Ares would blindly trust him and follow Waylon anywhere he'd go. They tend to give him nice hugs - he feels like Waylon needs it anyway.
Quentin
Both have a sibling-like relationship, and sometimes Ares accidently calls him "Brother". They love to tease him, - especially related to his crush on a certain Grimhalla - usually because Quentin started it first. And even if he didn't, that would be Ares' answer anyway.
Trivia
- Ares' name comes from the greek god of war with the same name, one who wasn't very popular between the people due to his bloodshed and temper;
- Ares' surname comes from a conversation he had with Juno, where she asked him if he had any. They looked around and combined two words of what he saw, in order to impress her;
- He has so many horses... It's unknown how many. However, Ares remembers all their names. Sometimes they were forced to take them back to the human world - only to take them to his secret place instead;
- They didn't show their secret place to no one, not even Juno;
- He constantly sings the "I'm Just Ken" song, because they're just kenough too-
