Living lavish is one of Meri's main hobbies. So is being stylish, all the time, without exceptions. She's the daughter of an extremely wealthy and famous French actor, Leonide Roux, who moved them all to the States when Mercedes was around ten years old. The goal was to make a name for himself in the American entertainment industry, which succeeded.
The Roux family are a long-standing clan of vampires dating back several centuries. They're "pureborn" vampires, meaning they're simply born as vampires and aren't turned. In modern days, turnings are considered barbaric and dated, so it wouldn't happen anyway. Even so, the Rouxs wouldn't participate—they have too much pride in their lineage.

Or, really, she just doesn't like to share. One main thing about Mercedes is what's hers is hers alone. Including friends, in some cases. She's extremely jealous, possessive, and territorial of things and people she deems "hers."
She grew up with like... a silver spoon in her mouth. She hasn't known a single day of hard work. She lacks the discipline and structure the average person has and is a very frivolous and careless person when it comes to money, time, and other things.
Mercedes is that type of rich girl who's wild and unattainable, but will still make you think you can have her. She's had a lot of brief flings with people, whether or not they knew they were being led on, and can unintentionally play with peoples' feelings.
If she has an opinion, you will hear it. Don't want to? Too bad! Mercedes has a lot of thoughts about everything all the time and no one is safe—both from her judgment and from hearing it. She's also very passionate in personality.
Despite being very disillusioned with the "real world" and having a lot of traits that might align her with a fake snake of a person, or someone who wouldn't be very well liked if not for her money, Mercedes has a lot of friends, and she's very committed to them. She'd never turn on a friend unless they gave her tangible reason to.
If she sees something she wants, she will find a way to take it. She has this "the world is mine" attitude that seeps into how she interacts with things and people around her, and it's made her a very direct person. She doesn't see a point in dancing around a topic when she's never been rejected, told no, or been told she's wrong in her life.
- really enjoys calling people, regardless of who, pet names... often romantic. think babe, baby, darling, love, etc. also definitely generous with kisses on peoples' cheeks. seems to be an intimate person no matter what type of relationship she has with someone
- her cat is named salem and is a pure black chantilly-tiffany. she was a big fan of sabrina the teenage witch as a kid, so of course her black cat had to have a namesake
- her part-time model thing is mostly to fill up her free time when she's bored—mercedes has never had to worry about money or work before, and likely never will, so it's more of a hobby than a livelihood

- born in paris to leonide and annette roux, along with her twin sister, lisette. they had naturally black hair, which mercedes later dyes an ash blonde color, while lisette leaves it natural.
- annette unfortunately fell ill from birth complications and soon passed away, leaving leonide to raise the twin girls alone.
- everything was fine. he kept their vampiric tendencies in check and was a decent father despite his busy schedule as his fame steadily rose in europe.
- lisette and mercedes were homeschooled and generally stayed at home, all the way up untile they moved to america. leonide wanted to get a foot in the american entertainment industry, so when lisette and mercedes were ten years old, they moved to the united states.
- at this point they were ready for official schooling, so they were enrolled in a private academy. mercedes took it as an opportunity to rebrand herself, as did lisette... but they went in opposite directions. mercedes soon went to being the "it girl" of her grade, dressing in expensive clothing and sticking with the (rather finnicky) popular crowd. lisette adopted an edgier lifestyle and stuck mostly to herself or her sparse friend group. despite this, they stayed close, and got along as well as can be.
- their father being extremely famous helped their popularity. lisette hid from it while mercedes basked in the spotlight, perhaps a bit too much. leonide grew distant during these years, which only pushed mercedes to cling to attention from other sources any way she could.
- lisette and mercedes, while being vampires, were raised on animal blood and bloodbags. mercedes was always curious about what it was like to drink from a person, though—so curious, in fact, that she found a "victim" to taste. she was around fourteen.
- she got drunk on it, almost. so absorbed in the taste that she couldn't stop. the sickly smell of iron plagued her senses and blurred the lines between life and death until she came to, where she saw herself covered in blood with a pale, lifeless body crumpled next to her. she'd been in shambles, calling her dad and begging him to come and get her.
- she never drank from a human again after that, but the damage had been done. her hunger could never be sated by stale blood in a bag—she would always feel unsatisfied, as if she were starving, unless she drank fresh from the vein again.
- mercedes didn't mellow with age. she still parties and models in her free time and hangs out with her friends all week. her only responsibilities involve making sure her card never declines and that her cat is perfectly pampered.
