Amaryllis tries not to let grudges consume her, a laborious task given her upbringing. She wants to feed the flame, to show everyone how wrong they are. However, she tries to keep her head down and exercise strong work ethic to dig herself out of her problems, demonstrating her fearlessness and independence. With fickle loyalties, Amaryllis finds it hard to pinpoint the cats she can trust and who’s worth it. It might not be her Colony, the ones who stared at her with heated gazes from her birth. It might not be her mothers, who must mean well but were unprepared for children. It might not even be her siblings, who all coped differently with the hand they were dealt.

There is a dark side to Amaryllis. Part of her garners thrill from manipulation and pulling tricks on others. Ultimately, she doesn’t intend malice behind any tricks, hoping to actually use her cunning to amass the most good as possible. Perhaps the ends will justify her means? She’s rather skilled at the art of negotiation, which only sharpens as she gets older, and she uses this silver tongue and quick thinking to get what she wants.

But she has something to prove. Only time will tell how that unfolds for her, and where the trifold conflict between her mothers, colony, and siblings will drive her.
