Nimue washed up on the shore of the River Styx. Its swirling darkness is the earliest memory can can recall. How long she spent in its waters, she does not know. She doesn't remember who she is or why she was in the river. No one touches those icy waters without paying a great sacrifice. Those who do brave only a dip. To have been fully submerged and swept away for who knows how long is unspeakable. She can understand words spoken to her, but what should be her native language feels foreign. Her voice makes no sound, so she cannot ask.

She actually ended up on Abbadon's floating island, where the Styx splashes down onto before it cascades over the edges and falls into the Abyss. Abbadon named her and changed her out of her soaking armor then let Nim to explore the Underworld.

Soon after wandering around the Underworld, a hellhound comes upon her. Not to attack the lone traveler, but to happily jump up on her and lick her face like an old friend. Nim likes this strange new dog. It's pretty cute with it's skull face and hollow eyes burning with blue cores. She decided to address them as Bones.

Nimue isn't completely sure what's going on most of the time, so she goes with the flow. Sometimes it turns out well. Sometimes it gets her into trouble. Since her memories were wiped by the River Styx, she's been working on making new ones. Everything in interesting to her and she can often be caught staring.

✧ Background

No one can regain lost memories taken by the abyssal waters of the Styx once it mixes with the River Lethe. Nimue's past is forever lost, but stories tell of a past ruler of the Underworld who mysteriously disappeared after their body was dropped into its rushing waters.

• Nim's skin changed to its dark color from being submerged in the Styx.
• Her hellhound companion, now known as Bones, knew who she was the second they smelled her, despite all that's changed.
• Being drowned in the river presumably took her voice.
• Nim can write in an archaic form of the Infernal demonic language. Sadly, it's been out of use for ages and even the common demon doesn't understand it.
