Summary
🪖 Warmhearted, respectful, diligent 🪖
A VAD nurse, who is kind, generous, and cordial- but she has a plucky side, as well.
Appearance
Mercy is a pretty young woman, slightly taller than other women her age. She has an average build. She has peach-coloured skin, round cheeks and a long nose. She has kind lips often curled into a smile. She has dark eyebrows and somewhat deep-set chocolate brown eyes, with long eyelashes. She has dark brown hair with a bit of a natual wave to it, which she usually keeps in a soft coil at the top of her head, oftentimes covered by her cap. She has a medium-length fringe that she brushes to the side, out of her eyes. Her hair is rather wispy, and sometimes floats away from her head in strands. When she lets her hair down, it sits just below her shoulders. As to be expected, she is always seen in her standard VAD nurse uniform, wearing a long medium-blue dress, a white apron with the Red Cross on the chest, a high collar, and short-heeled boots. She usually wears a white nurse's cap, but will also wear a white handkerchief tied near the nape of her neck. When in her usual clothes, she wears typical working-class garb of the time. She is 5'5".
Personality
Mercy is gracious, caring, and compassionate. She is extremely empathetic, and worries over other people even when they are strangers. She can sometimes have rather blunt views and opinions on things, but doesn't usually reveal these to people aside from those she trusts best. She tries to carry a sense of refinement with her personality and the way she converses. She values maturity quite a lot, and likes to make sure she does things correctly, wanting to make sure that people can trust her and her abilities. She is level-headed, extremely hardworking and is very good at multitasking. She likes being able to make a difference, and feels her best when she has accomplished a hard task. Isn't often frustrated or stressed out, even in demanding situations. Despite her care for sophistication and elegance, she can become quite silly and giggly when around people she likes.

Story
Mercy's story takes place behind the Western Front in mid-1916, during the Great War. She is stationed in France, being one of the voluntary nurses tending to injured soldiers during the Battle of the Somme.
Mercy was born in Ipswich, East Suffolk, England to a working class family on May 11, 1896. Her father, Wilson, was a miner, and her mother, Sarah, was a homemaker. She has three siblings- Grace (b. 1893), Daniel (b. 1894), and Cyril (b. 1896). Mercy is the eldest. Her ancestry was based in the small village just above Ipswich, called Henley- hence the family name. Coming from roots in farming, Mercy's parents had migrated down to Ipswich in order to raise a family in a larger town. Mercy's family were followers of the Church of England. Mercy adopted a devotion to the church when she was a child, and has maintained her faith through her life.

Relationships
Cyril Henley
Mercy's youngest brother. The two are rather close, especially since Cyril currently serves on the Western Front. Both Henleys find comfort in having each other close by while the rest of their siblings are back in England. Mercy took on the role of caring for her siblings from a young age, so Cyril has always looked up to his sister. She sees Cyril as a quiet and thoughtful man, but thinks that he can be a little too negative at times.
Gilbert Stokes
Mercy meets Gilbert briefly during a visit he makes to the hospital, and she is immediately struck by his charm and kindness towards her. (The two of them marry after the war!)
Frank Goldwin
Mercy looks upon Frank kindly, and is glad that he has become close with her brother.
Walter Bennett Price
Mercy thinks unfavourably of Walter, as he tends to be rather rude when visiting the hospital.
Trivia
- Her zodiac sign is Taurus, and her lunar zodiac sign is Metal Rabbit.
- Her faceclaim is (x), and her voiceclaim is (x). (She would have a middle-pitched voice. She has a pretty clear "old" Suffolk accent, and sometimes tries to hide her "broader" pronounciations. Her parents have extremely singsong-y "old" Suffolk accents)
