'Ivy'

A vining plant species

'Pounce'

For her ability to aim her pounces uncanilly well

IIvypounce was born and raised in Stoneclan, yet she is not the one most cats usually go to for fighting practice or to share a meal with. She's aloof, spending most of her time sunning herself or hunting. Ivypounce enjoys listening to her clan members talk and picking up on the happenings that way. But when she really wants to know some real insider drama, she will recruit her friend Finchfang to give her the scoop.

curiosity killed the cat

Due to her somewhat short temper, Ivypounce isnt really "approachable" a lot of the time. This doesnt bother her for the most part. While she does usually come off as cranky when approached, she is likely just surprised that shes being talked to in the first place. Ivypounce is quite clever, and very very quiet, only really speaking if she feels like she has something to say. And when she does her tone is very analytical and matter-of-fact. Not to say she isn't nice, she really is sweet, just blunt.

Aloof
Not friendly or forthcoming; cool and distant

Ivypounce does not enjoy talking to others, and will oftentimes when shes approached come off as cold or snippy, even if she doesnt mean to. She enjoys watching clan matters from a distance rather than participating herself. Ivypounce is a big believer in not talking if she doesnt have anything important to say. This Aloofness doesnt have particularly anything to do with how she was brought up, Ivypounce has always been somewhat antisocial even as a kitten. Due to these behaviors she struggled to make friends, and still struggles to this day. The only reason shes been able to get close to any cats in the past was almost always purely because of their persistance and determination to talk to her consistantly. She really respects when cats arent detered by her upon first meeting.

Clever
quick to understand, learn, and devise or apply ideas; intelligent

Ivypounce usually has a very strange patchwork of knowledge. While she is very smart and usually right about whatever she is talking about, when she is wrong about a fact, she is almost always WAY way off. When she doesnt know something, and none of the other cats know either, she will attempt to "research" and theorize until she comes up with an explanation. Most of the time these theories turn out to be pretty close to the truth. And other times they are so incredibly incorrect (but everyone will still believe her anyway). She's quick to correct others when she hears something wrong being spread around, even if what she is saying to correct them is also EXTREMELY wrong. Also sometimes she likes to lie to kits for fun. To start drama just because she can.

Independent
free from outside control; not depending on another's authority.

Ivypounce is extremely independant, maybe too much so. As an apprentice she was difficult to train. She hated being told what to do, and it took some coaxing to eventually find out what made her tick. Now, as a full warrior, Ivypounce doesnt realize how much she has actually become dependant on her friends. its hard for her to come to the conclusion that maybe she really does need other cats in her life to be happy.

curious
eager to know or learn something.

Because she spends so much time in camp Ivypounce is very in the know about everything at all times. She is aware of just about everything when it comes to her clan's history and the forest. As a kit she would spend hours listening to the elders tell all sorts of stories. She is always excited to learn about the world and cats around her. When she sees or hears something interesting, Ivypounce is without a doubt already curiously asking questions, sniffing, or batting whatever she has found with a perfectly groomed paw.

tidy
arranged neatly and in order.

Her soft, shiny, and beautifully cared for coat is one of her biggest sources of pride. She doesn't like getting messy, unless play-fighting with Finchfang or hunting in the brush. She's very into cleanliness, and definitely a germaphobe.

standoffish
distant and cold in manner; unfriendly.

Ivypounce often comes off as rude to cats who try to approach her. In reality she usually just struggles with being brutally honest. She is quick to attempt to intimidate cats she sees as potential threats. Sometimes she will try to intimidate others just to get a read on what they are like.

( trivia )

  • Her coat tends to turn slightly ligher in color during leafbare.
  • her favorite prey is squirrel. She refuses to eat rats at all, she thinks they are dirty.
  • She fidgets with her tail a lot when she stands. Twining it around her legs, pawing at it, hyperfocusing on its movements, etc.
  • She loves her spots, and is really happy Doekit got them from her.
INTERVIEW TIME!

01.
Are you happy with the suffix given to you, or would you change it to something else if given the chance?

I uh... I mean, pounce suits me. Im good at pouncing, better than Tigerpounce. You should tell her I said that.

02.
Are there any clanmates of yours that always get on your nerves?

Yes.

03.
What skill do you wish you were better at?

I wish I was better at climbing. I never could match the others at rock climbing, there is just something about being so high up... makes my stomach drop into my tail.

04.
What rule of the warrior code are you most likely to break?

Ha! wouldnt you like to know! (Its the leaders word is law one)

05.
What values (loyalty, honor, justice, charity, etc.) do you believe are most important?

I think loyalty is important, but blind loyalty is foolish. Its something that needs to be consistantly earned.

The Beginning
79299596_1IjzCqUp5dY1YNn.png

Ivykit was born one foggy newleaf morning alongside her sister Hollykit. No cat seems to remember her parents were, they disapeared soon after her birth. Since her parents werent around, and her sister was usually off doing her own thing, little Ivykit had to take care of herself most of the time. Ivykit learned at a young age how to be frighteningly observant of everything around her. She would use this observantness to gauge every cats personality. At three moons old, Ivypounce discovered the joy that was asking numerous questions to the elders about everthing. She would sit in the elders den until they practically kicked her out, listening to stories and asking every question that popped into her little head.

At six moons old, Ivypaw was apprenticed to Barkclaw. Now that she was allowed out of camp, her curiosity about the world around her only grew more feirce. She HATED being told what to do, and did not care for practicing battle moves or hunting. All she wanted to do was walk around the entirity of the territory every day and look at how everything changed since she last saw it. This prooved frustrating for poor Barkclaw, who just could not seem to engage her in anything she needed to be learning. But, after spectating how competative Ivypaw seemed to get during a pouncing contest with fellow apprentice Tigerpaw, Barkclaw figured out the perfect way to keep Ivypaw interested. Barkclaw started to make everything a friendly competition. The freedom to have fun with her training rather than feeling like she was forced in to it made Ivypaw much more eager to try. It started with who could pounce the farthest. Then she showed her how to creep up on pray the most quiet. Then it was seeing if she could top yesterdays record for the how many pieces of prey she could catch. Even though Ivypaw never really cared for her training she still graduated on time with her fellow apprentices, and is eternally grateful to Barkclaw for the energy she put in to learning about her.

The Now

Ivypounce and Finchfang in Stoneclan: Leaf-Fall

After Ivypounce finished her apprenticeship, she was happy to finally have some sort of real semblance of freedom. She could finally spend time walking around the territory, grooming herself in the sun, and hunting at night. Dispite this being able to do most anything she wanted, Ivypounce still showed little interest in other clanmates. That is, until Finchfang started talking to her. Finchfang and Ivypounce were apprentices together, but she didnt really remeber much about him other than how close he was with his mentor. And now, very day without fail, her fellow clanmate would approach her with some sort of weird bug or plant in his mouth, drop it at her paws, and ask if it was edible. At first Ivypounce was annoyed by this consistant interuption to her day, but after he continued to try to talk to her multiple times even when she was short with him, it became part of her daily routine to engage with the tom. Ivypounce enjoyed answering his questions and showing off what she knew, and seeing Finchfangs relentless determination to try new things made her quickly grow fond of him. Eventually their interactions became so frequent, Ivypounce would get worried when they DIDNT happen. She had made her first friend all on her own, and cherished the time she got to spend with him.

Eventually Ivypounce started to come out of her shell more. She stopped recoiling as much when her clanmates would approach her to say hello, and actually enjoyed when the kits would ask her questions. When her old acquaintence Tigerpounce noticed her opening up more, the two became good friends. Even though they were never really super close as apprentices, they had always had a healthy rivalry with each other. Now Ivypounce was happy to talk to tigerpounce every day, sharing prey and, every once and a while, grooming all the dirt out of her fur to make her more presentable.

Ivypounces whole life would change though, after she started feeling lathargic and anxious. It felt as though something had started weighing her down. Reluctantly she visited the medicine cat only to find out she was pregnant. This news shocked Ivypounce to her very core. She had only just started living life the way she wanted. Now she was doomed to live in the nursary and give up that newly found freedom for some mewling kit. This quickly made her retreat back in to her old habits. Becoming more snappy with her clanmates again, and no longer showing any interest in anything she previously enjoyed. Noticing this odd behavior and easily recognizing the she-cats well hidden signs, one of the nursery queens, Lightmoon approached her in secret. They discussed what was going on, and for the first time in a moon Ivypounce talked to someone about her problems. Lightmoon offered to take the kit and raise it, but Ivypounce still wanted to be her kits life in some way. They came to the agreement that they would co-parent the kitten, and after that, Ivypounce seemed to lighten up again. She found comfort in Lightmoon throughout her pregnancy and birth, appreciating everything he had done for her happiness. While Doekit still resided in the nursary, Ivypounce would visit her for feedings and playtime, then when she needed to be alone, Lightmoon, Finchfang, or Tigerpounce would take over the parenting duties instead. Ivypounce found great comfort in her friends, and started feeling like her old self again in no time.

TDLR
  • Ivypounce struggled with her apprenticeship until her mentor Barkclaw helped her figure out how to stay engaged
  • She finally felt free after becoming a warrior. After making some friends she came out of her shell.

IIvypounce is closer to Finchfang than anyone else. She loves spending time with him and appreciates that he shares her curious nature. Ivypounce also loves that he respects her personal space, and gives her lots of time to cool off when she needs it. She trusts him more than any other cat in the clan. She knows the things he has had to go through, and Finchfang knows more about the inner workings of Ivypounces mind than any other cat. Even herself, as she is horrified to admit.

Its not super obvious because of the way she shows her feelings, but she definately loves Finchfang and they are considered unofficially mates. (Not canon of course)

  • Ivypounce finds herself wanting to spend the most time with him out of all the other cats in the clan.
  • Thinks he is an honest and admirable cat
  • Is grateful that he sees her for who she is.

Ivypounce very much respects Lightmoon for everything he does, for her and the other cats in the clan. She is surprisingly secure around him, and isn't as afraid to seek comfort from him as she might be from other cats. He was there for her throughout her entire pregnancy and birth, supporting her from whatever distance she needed him to be. Because of this and the fact that they are raising a kit together, Ivypounce can't see him as anything other than family. She knows Lightmoon will always be waiting for her in the nursary at sundown.

Ivypounce thinks Tigerpounce is really something. They grew up together, and during their apprenticeship Ivypounce learned to tolerate her constant need to be covered in filth. On very rare occasions Ivypounce will sit down with Tigerpounce, groom her fur, and listen to her talk. She really does care deeply for Tigerpounce and thinks of her as family, but will never say it out loud. The strong she-cat brings a nice energy to her life, something she had always lacked.

Daughter

Ivypounce has always had ton of mixed feelings about having a kit, not really thinking she would want kits in her lifetime. But nonetheless she loves Doekit very much, no matter what.

Former mentor

Ivypounce has a lot of respect and admiration for Barkclaw. She was a great mentor and Ivypounce was comfortable going to her with her questions, or for some support. She thinks of Barkclaw as one of the most respectable warriors the clan has.

Acquaintance

To Ivypounce, Bramblefawn started out as a cat she would never want to talk to in a million years. That is, until Tigerpounce started spending every minute talking about her. Ivypounce, being a cat of curiosity, eventually had to approach her just to see what the fuss was all about. To her surprise, she was not instantly insulted or brushed off. Though she spent most of the conversation talking about herself, Bramblefawn was interesting to talk to indeed. Interesting enough for Ivypounce to want to continue meeting with her every once and a while, (of course making it sound like these hangouts were Bramblefawns idea first). The two of them even got along well enough for Ivypounce to talk about her life occasionally instead of keeping the conversations as one sided as they were before. And now, whenever Ivypounce feels like she has the energy, the two share tongues and lay in the sun chatting.

Ivypounce thinks of her as a cat she enjoys observing the life and personality of. And of course, the compliments she receives on her appearance are a bonus.
