BIRTHDAY
November 1

Most of Nadya's life was completely uneventful, as the noble daughter of a distinguished family; she was to grow up, find a husband and become part of his household.

All of that changed when her parents died while Nadya was still only 17, leaving just her and her brother, Norman, as the sole heirs to the Ward family estate. As such, Norman set out to get married.

In the years since, they have grown distant to one another. A few years later, at the age of 19, Nadya's finally out mingling again, perhaps in the search of a husband. Instead, another deal awaits her.

She becomes entangled with a woman at a masquarade party, and the two of them hit it off, to the point of making out in a dark corridor outside the party hall; Nadya doesn't remember all of it, but she does remember the woman biting her neck, and before she knew it, she was a vampire. You'd think she'd despair over this, but she remembers the night fondly.

TRIVIA
  • Nadya uses he/him as the baron, and she/her most other times.
  • She's an avid reader and often spends time at home.
  • Nadya loves acrobatics and is quite nimble despite her looks.

BACKGROUND

POSITIVE / NEUTRAL / NEGATIVE

Nadya has spent most of her life secluded, and as such, doesn't mesh well with people most of the time. This only worsened when her parents died, and she completely lost touch with the outside world during the mourning period.

You'd think this would get her in trouble, but surprisingly that turned out much different; she is revered for being a "princess" despite having never done anything to earn such a title.

In reality she isn't much for the silliness of parties; and it was only that one time with that woman that changed how she felt about them.

Her alias, the Baron, is much different. He is a different kind of beast, the fire that burns within Nadya, just begging to be let out. And it is as the Baron that Nadya can let out these explosive feelings she has for women.

Blanche Ward

( sister-in-law, crush )

The beautiful woman who married into the ward family; Nadya has some idea that her and Nadya's brother, Norman, have a loving relationship, but finds out later that their marriage was one of convenience.

In fact, she quickly gets the impression that Blanche seems to have some kind of agenda, but she can't for the love of herself figure out what the woman is up to.

A major reason that she can't figure her out is the intense distraction that is the fact that Nadya is in love with her, and desperately trying to deny it. She can barely spend time in a room alone with her without freaking out inside.

Norman Ward

( brother )

Nadya's older brother. He's quite a bit older than she is, about 7 years her senior, so she can't claim they've ever really been close.

Lately, though, her view on him has been changing; she can't help but find the way that he behaves to be unsettling, and like there is something deeply wrong with him.

However, she burns in with those questions as she has no proof, and she can't claim that she really trusts him enough to bring it up, despite them spending over 20 years together.

Whatever it is, she quickly realizes that his marriage to Blanche is superficial, and that he's getting up to something - something sinister.

DESIGN NOTES
  • Nadya's design has mostly complementary colors, but there is a theme of contrast that I wanted to hone in on. In her dress, she is mostly dressed in white (or well, a cream, light color) with dabs of red - some of her true nature is showing through, but it's only glimpses. Whereas the baron wears almost entirely red and dark colors - showing passion, wildness, Nadya's true self.
  • As the quintessential romantic flower I decided she needed some roses on her. She is a bit of a sucker for love after all.
  • At first I wanted the Baron to just have a cape, but I actually like these flaps more; it doesn't destroy the silhouette, and gives her a sharp, cool look.
