Born and raised in the small mining town of Odette, WV, Pushkari is a member of the close-knit Kuraitsuki family.  Being blessed with three younger siblings, she learnt from a young age how to be responsible, and has always come off mature for her age.  Her parents were very close with their siblings, and they only lived a few blocks away from her grandparents, so the families spent a great deal of time together and she was raised closely with her cousins.  Four years earlier a devastating accident happened in the mine where Pushkari's father and his twin brother worked, killing them both.  From then on, she became the primary caretaker of her newly born sister and two rambunctious little brothers.  Her mother works two jobs and is constantly exhausted and depressed, spending her little time at home sleeping.  
Between her siblings, working part-time, achieving high marks in school, and even spending time with her best friend and her boyfriend, Pushkari somehow manages to balance it all.
She begins to struggle with everything, however, after a supernatural occurrence on Hallow's Eve gives her the ability to hear everyone's thoughts. . .
