"Please, don't kill me, don't kill me don't kill me don't-"
Mars' relic was activated among the stars not far from the Vido homeworld and was picked up by a large starfleet, the Thousand Blades. The relic activated when the Stance (the fleet's largest ship) grabbed it as it floated in space near a shipwreck, and the resulting Vido hatchling was collected by one of the fleet's smaller ships. The creature, made extremely rare because of its elemental body, was kept in isolation as a secret until it reached maturity a few weeks later. Once he had reached his adult size, he began to be used as a "boss" in the Thousand Blades' illegal fighting arenas.
Confused at first, Mars soon begun thoroughly enjoying fighting those weaker than himself, and took morbid pleasure in projecting his sight into those he was about to kill, allowing him to see what his many victims saw in their last moments.

Character
Combat, magic & skills
While Mars is quite able to punch, claw and bite throught pretty much any normal fight, he mostly relies on his magical abilities. His leaking core fluid and inkskin provide him with a highly potent attack: he will hurl, spit or drop enchanted "blood" on his foes. This core fluid contains magical "stars", which, akin to real stars, are able to emit extreme heat and radiation, burning through even the thickest armor plating. Derived from his inkskin is his extremely efficient ability to regenerate: any wound on his leaking parts heal in a matter of seconds, and most minor wounds on the rest of his body close up after an hour or two.
Through years and years of training, Mars learned to use his opponents' fear to shake them up enough to take complete control of their sight, allowing him to make them look where he wants, when he wants. As such, he can effectively "blind" an enemy to his strategy and point of attack until it's too late for them. The innate ability a Vido has to project sight into any eye-shaped object, body part, drawing or writing also allows him to spy on his foes and observe them as they approach, making him extremely difficult to surprise.
Curious Hatchling
As a hatchling, Mars was quite curious and playful, eagerly to try new things and play with others. Having been pampered from the moment of his hatching, the small Vido believed this to be normal, and was thoroughly shocked to discover his true purpose.
Frightened Youngling
From the day he was first thrust into battle, a change started to occur in the dragonlike creature. At first, it was fear that ingrained itself in his mind. Fear that others, for a reason he did not understand, suddenly wanted to hurt him; fear that he would die in the beautiful temple-like home in which he had spent the previous month or so; fear that he would never again see. And then he became afraid of something else. Afraid of himself, of what he saw through the eyes of the humanoids he was forced to kill. They were saying things, things that meant they were afraid. So he repeated that, trying desperately to say that he didn't want to fight, that he, too, was terrified. They did not understand
Eye of the Beholder
After a few years, Mars decided he would no longer be afraid; he would be the one to instill fear in others. Soon enough, just causing fear wasn't enough, and he started feeling deep pleasure in causing simple and intense pain to others. While he did have soft spots for a select few, especially his young purger, he became more and more cruel and twisted. He searched for a name that inspired him, and chose "Mars", after another universe's god of war. He took up the habit of looking through the eyes of those he tortured and/or killed, enjoying the scene from a first person perspective.
