Wha--? Don' tell me yer lookin' at me arm again...

Personality

  • Strong (in all manners)
  • Just
  • Playful
  • Pushy
  • Loud
  • Headstrong

Hyeth can come off entirely annoying, but charming as hell. He wants to be seen as a great, heroic guy, someone worth swooning over-- and paired with his rigid stance on being a worthy protector, all of his lofty goals get him into trouble in many different situations.

With a quick tongue and a flashy personality, Hyeth can seem very hypocritical, wanting the best for himself but also being selfless when it comes to the protection of others. And it's true that at times his desires are at an impasse with his duty, but more often than not he will default to helping out others rather than himself.

But truth be told, there is a method to his hard work, and a lot of it involves figuratively stepping over others to look as if he has done more and done it the best.

He means well even if he acts put upon when assisting others... He wouldn't have it any other way than to be needed.

Background

His life as a whelpling is a bit of a mystery, and never something that he brings into the topic of conversation, or even when pestered and poked about it.
But beyond his childhood- in his young adulthood specifically- Hyeth wandered the world, seeking attention and a living. He started off as a guard/sentry in remote outposts of humanoid villages and cities-- the pay was better than none (which was what he was used to before), and he certainly got attention, Centaurs not a common sight whatsoever. But it wasn't good, so therefore it wasn't enough.
He worked his way through outposts, putting in many hours, preventing many mishaps despite the cold and harsh reception his personage received in turn, and got promoted to help the abundance of weak humanoids along one of the most lawless towns of the kingdom.

This was the start of something good, for Hyeth. Someone of his constitution and staunchness was needed desperately, and even he knew it, more than happy to take on guard role after role.
Eventually this mentality paired with slight fatigue from his constant working came back to hurt him, and on one adventure he was attacked by a Basilisk-like creature. His lower arm was completely petrified.
Thankfully the situation ended better than worse, what with the creature being easily slain after the incident (even with a petrified lower left-arm, the Centaur boasts forever after) and- in the company of all sorts of healers with different skillsets- he was able to recover well enough to have his arm safely amputated, threat removed entirely.

After the incident, he needed around ten years to retrain himself with one full arm. But soon after he felt comfortable wielding weapons-- and, now, magics-- he went back to the duties he had done hundreds and hundreds of times before.

Skills & Abilities

Weapons-wielder
Most proficient and comfortable with one-handed weapons and shields. While he understands swords the most, ever since his arm was amputated, he's started to prefer blunt maces and flails.

Centaur Constitution
Quick recovery to most benign humanoid illnesses, and no problem with any weather condition. Has the strength triple-fold of an average human. Long life-span (up to 300 years).

Magic
Quick study; no longer just a novice in spells of destruction and illusion-- actual flames or flames that simply light the way, Hyeth can cast these things if he has the energy.

Survivalist
Most Centaurs have a good understanding of traversing, making them ideal guides. Read above on Centaur Constitution with more as to why this is so. This does NOT mean a Centaur will allow you to mount them. lol

Summary

A fake humble, 'Centaur Warrior' (boy does he detest the layers of wrong-ness of this dumb title). If you asked him, 'Hero' or 'Protector' would be more apt.

Though he doesn't see it as such, there are many things about him and what he chooses to do and say that make him come off mysterious. His accent, the way he carries himself, and the large amount of work he seems to get done every day is all baffling. Then again, his current haunts which he still refuses to call 'home' (even though he feels it is) aren't used to Centaurs whatsoever, so many hum-drum things Hyeth gets up to are viewed with extreme scrutiny.
Lucky for him, he wants all the attention he can muster!

Being a Centaur is unavoidable and obviously second-nature for Hyeth, but there are many advantages to his constitution that most of the humanoid citizens do not have, and as such, he is often called on and asked for personally. He tries to help as much as possible, even in situations where he isn't nearly as much as a help as others want out of him.

He has had a few crises as he's undergone his new repertoire, what with his arm injury and all. But he feels he owes the humanoids who had saved him from a far worse fate and gave him a new set of 'tricks'. But no matter what he has been set up with, he's stubborn and tries his best not to use his spells unless absolutely necessary.

Trivia

  • If there is anything such as a Centaur language, Hyeth doesn't have a clue about it. It's rare enough for him to see kinsman in these areas at all, but he's not connected to his race like some other Centaurs seem to be.
In fact, he speaks very casual, compared to most other Centaurs, who take great care in how their words come out. Lots of slurring and shortening sentences to get his point across as fast as can be.
  • He eats like a goddamn vacuum-- in speed and intensity. It's a sight to see...
  • What little material items he has, he wears. All of his jewelry and accessories are tiny points of pride to him, things he's amassed through several decades.
  • His last name is a mash up of tiger written in fake ~ye olde tyme English and pie, which is 'feet' in Spanish.
