BRIGHID “STARFRUIT” KREI is the niece of alistair krei and future heir to the kreitech fortune! following the events of the film (and, like, the news coverage of the whole thing), she had something of an epiphany about the importance of family and decided to move to san fransokyo so she could spend as much time as possible with her dear ol’ uncle. he pulls some strings to get her into sfit, where her proficiency in hard light holograms grabs the attention of hiro and co.
independent of her new group of Suspicious In A Way She Can’t Yet Put Her Finger On friends, brighid grows fixated on the standoff between yokai and the elusive big hero 6. she envies them in a way–she’d do anything to protect krei, and these guys clearly have the means to do so. but at the same time, she needs both sides of the story. why would somebody want to kill her uncle? so, it’s pretty convenient that the guy’s incarcerated just a short walk away. maybe she’ll drop in once, or twice, or um. more times than that. just to see if she can understand him and his motives!
when she eventually learns that her friends are big hero 6, and that they want her on the team, she’s overjoyed. the only problem is, she’s not quite as cut out for the hero thing as she hoped she’d be. sure she can get in a few good licks now and then, but her tech isn’t as refined as the others’ and her secret identity isn’t all that secret. practically every bad guy in town (or, more specifically, just the ones with grudges against krei) knows who she is! so more often than not she functions as what the team lovingly labels Villain Bait. n-not that she minds!!
