Deja

(ENTP-A) Deja is an eccentric guy with a big love for slugs. He's quite talkative and assertive. He has a hard time reading the room, but he means well. He is always up for discussion about pretty much anything, but he's the type of person who is just impossible to win and argument with, even if he is objectively wrong.

  Deja loves a good bit of mischief and always likes to mess around. Quite literally a trickster. A jokester, even.

•    Grew up in the Deepsea, so his first language is NOT Octarian.
•    Had a Humboldt squid girlfriend for a while, but she disappeared without a trace one day.
•    Got fed up with living in the Deepsea; it was too bleak and boring, and he had nothing to lose by going to the Splatlands. This of course, was a hassle to try to learn other languages to communicate. Not a lot of people know Deepsea in the Splatlands.
•    They left the Deepsea in 2014, and did several different jobs that didn't pay much, but it was enough to get by for a bit. He was living on the street for about a year, until he got a job working in a cafe. The owner was nice enough to let him stay in the unused attic upstairs.
•   Since staying in the cafe's attic, he made it a point to learn the basics of Inkling and Octarian. Since then, he's gotten much more fluent, but he still kind of struggles with Inkling a bit.
•   Eventually made enough to get out on his own in 2018. He really did like the cafe job most of the time, but basically living at work will do things to you. He still drops by the cafe from time to time.
•   Deja lived on his own for about two years, until he was looking for a room mate to help out with bills and such. He'd been doing the slug dealer business for about a year, so a room mate who was good with slugs was a must. He met Lyric this same year, and they hit it off quite well, despite Lyric being mute and Deja still not exactly fluent in Octarian.
•   Since knowing Lyric, Deja has made an effort to try to learn sign language, to communicate better with Lyric. This is... quite difficult when you only have one hand to work with, but Lyric generally knows what's being said.

  Deja works mostly through helping people adopt slugs out of his apartment. His side gig is driving a bus for people going on recon on the weekends. He is room mates with Lyric, who helps him with the adoption business as well. He recently housed Lyric's family for a while until they had a place they could stay.

  Business is pretty good when it comes to the slug adoption, considering he's very persuasive and informative. He does make sure that it's a good match before making a deal, though. He wants to make sure there's a connection there, and not just people getting a slug "because they're cute."

   Took Lyric in as a room mate, and have been close friends ever since. Deja is literally in love with them, though the feeling is a bit unrequited. They've bonded over shared interests and similar food choices. 

   Deja met Atlas through Lyric, technically. During one of the first visits, it had Atlas considering adopting a slug... Surprisingly, he'd chosen one of the most rascally slugs available, but he was glad to give her a loving home. They see pretty often, due to Atlas visiting Lyric.

  During their stay, Deja got to know Lyric's family pretty well, and they all got along, but most of which, Deja got along with Ayah a lot since, well... Ayah is a talkative kid, and Deja is talkative too, so a lot of the times, they would just talk about their interests in an incredible amount of depth. Since Lyric is very close with Ayah too, Deja knew a bit about her before even meeting her since Lyric always goes on about their favorite neice.

  Vertigo was surprisingly formal to Deja during the entirety of their stay. Deja was a bit intimidated by Vertigo's appearance and stature for a bit, but once he saw how stiff, and honestly kind of nervous he seemed, he relaxed about it. He reassured him he's welcome any time, and not to worry so much about formalities.

  Siren was also pretty formal with Deja, but she was much more natural about it. Having her stay was a treat, in Deja's eyes. She was super warm and positive, despite their situation.

• Pretty mediocre with sign language.
• Almost always going around barefoot, or as barefoot as possible.
• Can adapt to pretty much any situation.
• Maximalist interior is his favorite.
• Surprisingly very good with kids.
• Surprisingly very good at talking to people in general, which made his job at the cafe very easy, and very fruitful.
• Sandwich of choice: toasted kelp + tomato sandwich with extra cream cheese.
• Always keeps business cards on him. Just in case!
