Hawk is Jay's inner voice/spirit. 

Hawk is an Envoker class Illager with crazy skills... He is also crazy...

One minute he could be your friend, the next he could stab your back...

One minute he can be calm and happy, the next he could explode with Vex and Fangs... Ripping you to shreds...

-Inner personality-

Hawk is a very complicated individual but he really does care about his friends. He does really like Rose, he just doesn't know how to show it. Though he talks Tool into doing many things with him he does really care about his friend's safety. He is actually frightened of Stone but does his best not to show he is afraid...

As for Orchid and her group, he does enjoy their company even though he acts a bit crazy sometimes...

The crazy act is just to keep others from getting too close... It's also very fun to him to act crazy in front of others, but he refuses to let anyone who isn't in his inner circle of friends close to his emotions. 

Valkyrie might be the only one to see Hawk's true inner self...
