Dina wasn’t the brightest child. Her parents did the best they could to try and help with her studies, but she just genuinely wasn’t able to grasp concepts children her age should have ease with. As she grew, the gap between her and her peers widened; It didn't feel like there was anything she could do to even try and rach them.

So she gave up.

Her parents were very concerned, but supportive. Schooling just wasn’t what she was meant for; So they set out to try and help her through the world.

Her appearance was normal in the place she was raised, but as she branched out, it quickly became apparent that she was far from usual. She received stares, people whispered about her, and while the attention was very rarely bad, Dina just wasn’t able to grasp why it was happening at all. She just wanted to be normal.

She floated from job to job, much like during her schooling years. She was adept with physical labor, but anything that she had to try and puzzle together just… wouldn’t fit.

She was mid breakdown when Ivan shoved his nose into her business.

Neither of them remember the exact comment he made, but it was something nasty about Dina’s mother. So he found himself scrambling up a tree just to avoid her mostly misplaced wrath.

He started talking. And talking. He spun her story after story. And maybe it’s the fact it was the longest anyone outside her family spoke to her recently. Maybe it was his angelic voice. Maybe she was just so tired of fighting for her place in this world.

He told her that one day, they could both be amazing adventurers. And he said it with such conviction, such bravado. It was Going to be true.

She could be a hero?

Dina could headbutt her way through most situations. And now, she had Ivan to speak their way through the rest.
