DUCK GRAHAM
Duck Graham is famous with the tabloids in London, and she wishes desperately that she wasn't. In 1917, she was a flutist in a mildly famous orchestra. Her fame caused her to be invited to the illustrious Elm family's New Years Eve party to ring in 1918. After a wonderful evening of dancing and drinks, the Elms paraded her and three others in front of a crowd...and announced they were to be sacrificed to bring on the end of the world. Duck ran. She made it to the woods outside the manor, though not before being attacked by one of her fellow sacrificees...who was then attacked by an author she had met earlier. Some fellow by the name of Apollo Leto. While the two fought, Duck got away, only to careen down a steep hill, landing head-first by the road. She was lucky to be found by a hunter and his son, and was taken to the closest hospital fast enough to survive. In 1922, Duck is a recluse. She used her family's money to relocate to Paris, where she has attempted to isolate herself from pesky journalists who continue to bug her about being one of the "sole survivors of the Elm manor fire." She quit her instrument, and spends her time trying to figure out what happened to her. See—she doesn't remember the events of New Years 1918 as well as she claims. But, perhaps with the help of that author, Apollo Leto, maybe she can find some answers.

BIOGRAPHY:

Duck Graham was born and raised in London, England by her mother, an Englishwoman, and her father, the son of Swedish immigrants. She was an only child. From a young age, she had a penchant for music—she started out plinking piano keys, and slowly became enamoured by the flute. Both of her parents played music in their free time, and were thrilled by their daughter's passion. Aside from this, Duck was a quiet child and kept to herself. She grew more and more anxious as she entered her teenage years, concerning her family. She attempted to attend university, but had a miserable first semester that she dropped out.

Duck had a horrible time in her twenties—the decade, for her, was overshadowed by her overwhelming anxiety. Her mother helped her get through most of it, as she did not have many friends, let alone close ones. By the time she turned 30, Duck was unmarried and still lived with her parents. On her 30th birthday, she resolved that she did not want to live with her paranoia, as she put it, "controlling her." She spent her thirties making personal progress, moving out of her parents' home and joining an orchestra.

All this progress was reverted on New Years 1918. After her recovery at New Eden General Hospital, Duck returned to London in shambles. After a month of trying to continue life as normal, she broke down, feeling as though she could not be safe if she remained in England. She fled to Paris, a decision spurred by the guilt she felt over the death of one Taylor Fossier, a Frenchman whom she had met on New Years Eve. It only got worse for Duck in Paris, where she started seeing a distorted, monsterous version of Taylor's corpse, always just out of the corner of her eye. She rarely leaves her apartment, and knows no one.

Her relationship with Apollo Leto is a strange one, teetering on the edge between friendly and romantic. The current Apollo doesn't line up with Duck's hazy memory of him—he's much kinder and meeker than he was. Duck is intrigued by this change. His smoking habit is starting to rub off on her.
Duck believes that it should have been her. None of this would've happened if he hadn't gone first.
