Morella Sarkany's Links
Both ladies make up 2/3 of the gang's inner circle of founders, and they are both known to be quite rowdy (though in different ways). Where Piao Ran is physically intimidating, Morella is intellectually unnerving, although Piao Ran isn't easily intimidated by Morella, and Morella is able to hold her own against Piao Ran. Their mutual respect is hard-won and the trust they have for one another rivals even the sun in it's power. Morella loves to show a front of easy-going irresponsible bliss, but Piao Ran is one of the few people who can see through her and offers to help Morella in ways that she would never have been able to ask. It's stressful raising kids all on your own, and Piao Ran gets that. Morella knows that her babies are in good hands if anything were to happen to her.

Their mutual respect is hard-won and the trust they have for one another rivals even the sun in it's power. While Piao Ran is dubbed the mother of the gang, she looks to Morella for guidance on raising the little shits they pick up off the streets, and in return helps Morella with her own children.
Ember is just barely older than Morella's oldest baby, and she's quite fond of Ember's innocence and mischief. She doesn't talk down to Ember by any means, though she is much more careful about how she talks and acts around the kids (See, she's not a terrible influence ALL the time, thank you very much).
Ember is often shooed away from Morella by the other adults in the gang, citing her "bad influence". Ember finds that Morella is actually quite responsible and kind, and she doesn't treat Ember any different from how she treats the other gang members just because she's a kid. She really likes Morella for that reason!
Ingram is her favorite victim to tease (aside from Star). He's just too gullible, and proper, and all the things a good man should be; but she can't resist pushing him around. She likes Ingram, and respects him as her best friend's boyfriend, but if he can't hang with the gang then he's not going to stay around Star for long; so she's kind of playing the role of protective older sister guarding her younger brother's heart. Nothing wrong with that. And No hard feelings either, besides Ingram is acing all her little tests anyway.
He's sometimes at a loss about what to do with her. Ingram is a man of honor, and he's been taught to be gentleman, though Morella doesn't seem to be any sort of lady that Ingram is used to treating before. He knows she's very important to his boyfriend, one of Star's best friends since childhood, so he wants very much to make a good impression on her, and to get along with her, but Ingram's never been the most social dude, and he's not really used to her sense of humor. But she's a nice enough woman, once she warms up... Similar to Ingram himself, so he will continue to give her benefit of the doubt and work at their relationship!
Morella owes her existence to the benevolent whim of Queen Jihan. She's otherwise unfamiliar with the inner workings of the Court of Distortion, but politeness aside, Morella doesn't see a point in treating anyone different just cause they got a title. And somehow it's worked out in her favor, Jihan has granted her a second(?) chance at life and for that Morella is thankful. She won't take it for granted, even if she feels the pressure of the price of that boon hanging over her head waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Jihan's duties in the Court of Distortion get old after a while, but the case brought to her against one Miss Sarkany has piqued her interest. Other than the easy-going and charming nature of the defendant, Jihan sees potential. A lot of it. Morella is sharper than she appears (at times reminding her of Ndulue) but her rowdiness helps her image in ways she's not sure Morella has picked up on yet. She's granted her a second chance at life, under the condition that she stays in touch, so Jihan can pick her brain for information when she needs it.
Walrider is a funny man, Morella thinks. She quite enjoys their game of cat and mouse, dodging the reaper with practiced poise as she skirts life and death situations by the skin of her teeth and the grace of the gods. He's become something of a familiar presence in her life, and she quite likes him. Even if the feeling's not mutual, no harm! She has fun teasing him, and hey, if even his own queen agrees with her laissez-faire lifestyle, who is she to submit to the subordinate? She often asks, "How's the Missus?" and is delighted when he actually answers her, even if she has to dodge his scythe the whole conversation!
Walrider's quite cross about Morella slipping through his fingers; as a reaper he's meant to ferry all souls to the afterlife no exceptions. But infuriatingly Morella has managed to dodge his attempts to ferry her so much so, that he's summoned her to Court in the Distortion realm to get his queen to banish her to her final resting place... And she ruled in Morella's favor. How she accomplished that he'll never know! And to top it off, she just winked at him and said, "Better luck next time."
If he thought about her more, he would firmly hate her. As it stands, she's just a job and one he intends on completing sooner or later.
