PERSONALITY: Generous, Insightful, Curious, Taciturn, Anxious, Complacent.

Friendly to any he meets, if still a little on the quiet side. Santiago has only recently realized that he wants more than a solitary life, and is still acclimating to that change. Most of the time he forgets to externalize his thoughts to anyone but his family's flock of Mareep, sometimes assuming others are privy to his thoughts to his own detriment. This isn't to say he's as shy as he was was in his youth: he'd describe it as a carefulness with his words. He's an excellent listener and confidante, and considers it a great honor to lend an ear to any who'd need one. 

He's not visibly shaken by much, keeping outwardly calm in most situations. His real anxieties come from possibilities of the future or choices to make or avoid. Whether indecisiveness plays a role in his... lackluster aptitude for battling remains to be seen, but he finds himself still driven to become a knight despite that. Maybe he can talk himself out of his fight with the Battle Master?

HISTORY

Born to a scout of the Yanmega clan, Santiago spent his early childhood in the canopy within the Swarming Dark. His mother’s Armaldo provided the egg that hatched into his first Pokémon companion, and both trained to follow in her footsteps some day. His love for the forest was matched only by his curiosity about his father, who his mother always described as a simple man from Lumiose Village. 

It wasn’t until his mother’s disappearance that he was sent to live with (and meet for the first time) his father. Indeed a simple shepherd, Santiago worked under his father herding Mareep through the fields surrounding the village. And that is where he stayed, considering his options but never committing. Musing about traveling out into the wilds to find his missing parent or see the wider region, but always finding an excuse to stay. A simple life was comfortable after all.

It wasn’t until a chance meeting with a stranger bumped him out of his rut: a Knight on the road, seeking assistance. Santiago offered food and water to the weary knight, who thanked him for his kindness, and then was shortly able to offer their services in recompense. Both humans and the herd of Mareep were beset by a wild pack of Mightyena. The Knight was able to defend all present, and Santiago finally found inspiration. He would be a knight, and forge a path with Pokémon at his side.
