Setting: Ravnica, Azorius Senate
Vuukal is the product of what happens when the most stereotypical bard in existence falls in love with a stone giant and settles down. He’s hard working to a fault, meticulous in everything he does, and overall a pretty boring guy. This does not stop young new lawyer Zagan Asova from immediately flirting with him and unfortunately for Vuukal, the man is annoying enough to succeed. The two become fast friends (and sometimes rivals) as well as having a sexual relationship that’s kind of an open secret despite their best efforts to keep it under wraps. Vuukal taught Zagan almost everything useful he knows about being a lawyer and in turn Zagan taught him how to maybe have fun every now and again.
When Zagan is killed, Vuukal is devastated, but is the one to identify the body so Jalna doesn’t have to see it.
When Davok appears on the scene a few years later, Vuukal nearly immediately recognizes his old friend and confronts him. The two reunite and continue their definitely-not-a-relationship in even greater secrecy than before. Unfortunately, things start to fall apart when Zagan starts going to Rakdos, indulging his baser instincts and forgetting himself when he’s around Vuukal. It doesn’t help that Zagan wants a relationship where Vuukal very much does not. After a few years of each of them growing shorter and more irritated with the other, they have an enormous fight that ends in Vuukal telling Zagan not to come back.
Vuukal continues on to live a very normal life and a well respected and accomplished member of the Azorius Senate and dies peacefully of old age surrounded by loved ones.
Then he wakes up in his own mausoleum several centuries later due to a Wish spell gone wrong by Zagan. The two are reunited when Vuukal shows up at the man’s family estate having nowhere to stay while Azorius figures out what to do with him. Zagan quickly takes him in, more than ready to apologize after all these years, and the two slowly begin to mend their broken friendship.
Zagan also introduces Vuukal to Rene and the two very quickly start up a sexual relationship.
