appearance
alphonsine is a staunch little cat with arched legs and a curving roundness. she's stained with the colors of a midnight sky. the light in her eyes is particularly expressive. her wings are always smooth and clean, while the rest of her fur is tufted. she is even more incorporeal than most stelcairs, alphonsine is more likely to feel like a thinning in the atmosphere or the brightness radiating off an aurora borealis than a being.
she is brimming with a potent and unique fire power which contorts the shape of her pupil into a cyan five-pointed star and stretches the light of her stars into brilliant multicolored bursts - each dazzling to their core. the blue gradient of her natural fire hides against the night sky, from afar she seems more a floating light than a comet.
to those who can see her for what she truly is; her fire shimmers with pops of pink and gold as if alive and celebrating. a guiding light through the dark.
personality
alphonsine is a responsible and quiet character - her life of overwhelming solitude has left her with a hint of untethered mystery. she carries with her an unspoken dignity; her aura requesting a sense of respect from others and instilling an awe within them.
although she is behaved, she is fierce.
alphonsine is less grateful then most on their tenth life. dissatisfied with the stalemate of the war and sympathetic to the prowling darkness - to be left abandoned beneath the waves while your better half rises? this sits poorly with her sense of justice, and still - she fights. an exemplary and experienced warrior.
she is a thoughtful being, spending much of her free-time ruminating over one soul-searching question or the next. alphonsine has a habit of going forth and testing her hypothesizes without input from others.
a klutz in social situations, she prefers to hold others at a distance so that she may seem forever a shining thing.
story
alphonsine's tenth life has persisted on for centuries, her past nine lives spent so far back in memory that they are more deeply intangible than even a dream. perhaps it is her disinterest in humanity which sees her being forever prolonged upon the earth - for while the cats around her faithfully shepherd souls, alphonsine has turned herself towards the darkness.
plunging herself into the ocean and onto the home-front of the shadows alphonsine wars with restless spirits before they can interfere with the world of the living or snatch the light from her brothers and sisters. she does not fear the wetness or dreariness of the depths and her unusual constitution has built her a reputation of valor - even of myth.
the endless struggle she partakes in is not one entirely of altruism - at least, not for the light. what force is it which corrodes souls into beasts desperate for and devoid of hope? is not this a cruelty immortal? alphonsine is disgusted that while stelciar are content to heal their own, they spurn the darkness carried within all living things and condemn it for its dreams of hope.
while she wars with them, it is alphonsine's true dream to redeem and end the suffering of the shadows from within the void. they have eaten countless spirits and destroyed endless sources of light - were they to carry their own, would they continue to be so hungry for it? pacification is not enough - not to alphonsine.
while she is praised for her battle-ready tendencies, she is equally condemned. others tease or spread gossip that she has been touched by the forces of the void and they have corroded and diminished her light into a frail and broken thing. any to witness her know in an instant how idle such speech is - as there has never been a brighter warrior against the dark then the cat named alphonsine.
she is wholly unbothered, and yet - intrigued. although the void has not touched her, she has touched it... could this gift of light then, just as it severs darkness from light - forge light into darkness? alphonsine has seen stelciar truly formed by the corruption of the shadows - an admirer of their beauty and structure she believes they may be the key to the salvation of the shadows. those that lurk in the deep-dark, if it is their dream to taste the light, then one day - let it be so.
but until that day comes, alphonsine will see to it that they do not endanger the world and creatures which surround them.
