"Neera was a local college professor as the leading force behind the study of lost languages in Africa (specializing in Coptic & Nubian). During her sabbatical, she was studying in Egypt when her tour guide promised her the sight of a lifetime. Together, they wandered for days and eventually were separated by the bandits that raiding their camp at night. Neera escaped and eventually stumbled upon the library of Alexandria. She's been there for over a year, slowly deciphering the enormous volume of literature contained in the library."

Later on in her life, she meets Sterling and they have a family together.
