Fessas are born in litters of one or two. They are blind for a few days when they are born, but they develop their eyesight very quickly. Only a few weeks later, they will start moving around and playing. They begin speaking at two months.

When fessas reach adolescence, their bodies rapidly begin to grow into their adult bodies. This rapid growth leads to a spike in hormones, which then leak out via their tear ducts.

When fessas reach adulthood, their hormones settle and they stop crying as much. At this age, latent magical ability begins to stir in them. Fessas normally have elemental abilities-- conjuring things like water, fire, and ice from thin air, but it needs to be practiced like any other skill. Any other abilities are unheard of.

Fessas pick anywhere from one to three partners to have children with, and they are generally raised in fairly sizable communities. Fessas can live for up to 30-50 years, depending on their health.

Young fessas are quick to cry, so as they get older they will often hear the phrase 'big fessas don't cry'. Bottling up or hiding your true emotions is commonplace.

Typically, young fessas live in huts alonside their parents, but when they reach a certain age, they (and their siblings, if applicable) will be tasked with building a hut of their own. It is the most important ceremony of a young fessa's life, and the parents are usually there to witness it.

As far as governance goes, fessas will defer to the adult with the strongest magic, as great skill is a sign of discipline and power. In the absence of a great magic user, fessas will defer to the oldest individual.
