Considering the sheer explosion of video game variety and development in our age, an Ultimate-level video game designer must be truly original and singularly captivating in their work. As a member of King’s Rock Productions, Tristan McRae has merely helped to contribute to that oversaturated genre of quirky RPGmaker games. This tiny, friend-group studio, after a coincidental brush with commercial success, has recently announced plans to contribute to the oversaturated genre of digital party games as well. Tristan himself is cited as the original idea generator for their first work, so thankfully, you have a target to blame for perpetuating the same tired gaming tropes.

If you asked Tristan to describe himself, you’d get something like “laid back” or “go with the flow”. These are both true, but discount his sheer dedication to taking a structure and running it into the ground until he can peel apart its shattered remains for valuable information or ideas. Truly, though, he does his best to be calm and easygoing in any situation he’s placed in. Tristan is adamant about standing with and supporting the people he cares about, with a tendency to brush over harm done to himself in the process. And maybe getting too wrapped up in his crusades to figure everything out. And also brushing over his own physical and emotional needs. Look, we’re all doing our best.
