Wick once was the model of a perfect life, with a family and high status. Unfortunately he is plagued with an overbearing fear of death. One day a monali named Pandora’s Box approaches him with promises of eternal life if he just abandoned the life he had. It’s a slow process, but he gives in to Pandora’s Box and leaves the life he had in favor of living forever.

A decision that he regrets, realizing that he was tricked, he finds a new patron, Beztri, and kills Pandora’s Box. Now he’s cursed to live a long and miserable life, until he finds his final resting place.

Thorns is a former shadow of himself. At a glance he may have the appearance of the grim reaper. Patterned after an Arge Moth, his color has faded drastically, his fur and skin a pale white. He looks nothing more than skin and bone, and one bad wind from keeling over. His face is extremely gaunt, like he’s withering away slowly, and eyes deep-set, droopy, and milky looking.

He’s gone through a couple of personality changes in his life. Thorns appears like a laid back individual most of the time. He’s largely bored with existence and constantly tired. He struggles to feel emotions and finds joy in watching others struggle or display strong emotions in general. Unfortunately this also can make people uncomfortable when he reacts excitedly to a horrible situation.

Once an acolyte to the gods and loving husband and father, Wick seemed to have the perfect life. A facade on the surface to hide the struggles underneath, Wick feared the concept of death and was terrified of the idea he might die at any moment. His fear slowly consumed his every thought, until he couldn’t stand it any longer and intended to run away and hide in shame.

This plan is interrupted after meeting with another monali who called themselves Pandora’s Box. Pandora’s Box provided him with words of comfort and teachings he had never before heard of. This individual enticed Wick with ideas of immortality, and quickly won him over. The teachings from his new friend began his slow transformation from his ideal self into the sickly looking Crown of Thorns. Before long Wick was convinced to abandon his life and loved ones in pursuit of the teachings of his new master.

Pandora’s Box, now his patron, used Wick as a test subject in an attempt to harvest the power in his loyal pawn. The results trapped the memories he once had in an amber stone, leaving him vulnerable and easily integrated into Pandora’s cult.

When he realizes exactly what he’s done, it’s 100 years too late. Enraged, Crown of Thorns begins preparations to kill his patron when he is touched by a warm light. The light's name is Beztri, and it expresses a desire to help him defeat Pandora’s Box.

He accepts, and is able to kill his former patron. Now under the direction of Beztri, Crown of Thorns wanders the lands in search of his final resting place..
