Background

TW: suicide attempt It's for the plot, Landon, I sweaaaaarrrr

Born and raised on the rooftops on RU1, in the midst of the city, Landon ran wild with the Skyscrappers. He spent much of his youth helping with street performances, stealing from onlookers and nabbing food wherever possible. Years of this led him to be arrested and sent to a retraining course, a course that was supposed to show him the error of his ways. However, they gave him food and a job, as a taste of "normal life", and he quickly figured he could get more food from them than he could from stealing.

Somehow, through some convoluted job experience and a little manipulation, he became a cop. He got paid for walking around the city and basically going back to what he was good at. But over the years, and the more he saw of the life down on the streets, he began taking his job seriously. He was sent out on missions, alone, in a group, and he did well with his knowledge of the city rooftops. He knew where he could jump from one building to another, where it was safe and where it wasn't. He became well known and respected.

He even married, had a son, had a family. All of whom he loved dearly, and made sure to look after.

But even those 25 brilliant, loving years couldn't last. His wife fell ill with Melorheostosis, a form of bone cancer. Her arm had to be amputated, and he had to watch her struggle for so long. Until finally, she couldn't survive any longer and passed away at hospital.

And then to make things worse, five years later, his son was crushed under rubble and had to have both of his legs amputated.

Landon took on more missions to distract himself. He went all over the city, only coming home late at night and leaving early the next day. He stalked the city streets, wandered among the Skyscrappers, led chases across the rooftops. Until one chase was too much.

He'd been tasked with arresting a Skyscrapper he knew well. He had cornered them on a rooftop, right at the edge, and was hanging onto their coat so they wouldn't escape. But he couldn't bring himself to handcuff them, they'd been a good friend back in the day.

It was all too much. Hunting down friends. The memory of his wife still haunting him, everyday, there, in the corner of the room, at his back. His son, trapped helpless in a dangerous part of town, all of which he'd known about...

All of which, he had known but never accepted, he could have done something about.

He pushed them back to safety, turned off his radio, and fell.

He woke up nine months later, his legs gone, a new body in their place. One that had four limbs with claws and hooves, a tail - and so much pain. He could barely move he was so weak, everything ached, everything felt off.

And then his son came in with mecha legs, explained what had happened and what he'd done. And he helped Landon recover. Everyday, exercises, medicine, love and care. And every night, after his son had said good night, he cried at what he'd tried to do nine months earlier. Yet he felt so lucky to be there now.

Over time he recovered, he got stronger, got used to this new body. He got used to all the aches and pains from where he'd healed, the backache, the headaches. He helped Aaron set up Arm&Leg, a company making mecha parts, biomech parts and even androids. He was, he dare say, happy.

Sometimes, he'd return to the rooftops, never nearing the edge if he could help it. They held mixed feelings, but his old family was there, and he didn't want to say goodbye to them just yet. Even if they teased him.
