Some speak of a young man, dressed in a patchwork coat, who haunts the streets of 1800s London late at night. If you get on his bad side, you may just find yourself turned into one of his many rat friends, forced to live with him for all eternity...

Rowan, despite the rumours, is the complete opposite. He's shy, skittish, awkward and socially unacceptable, finding peace with his rat clan, and Aethelmaere.

Together, with Salazar, his main rat companion, he stalks the streets at night, looking for more poor rats to take home with him, even going so far as to sew extra pockets into his coat to hold all of his chaos potatoes

Though most consider his immortality a curse, he sees it as a blessing, being able to take care of any and all rats who may need him, whether that be today, tomorrow, or the distant future
