Quick Reference for artists:

Alina - female form, blue haired (for the most part) [True form]
Lenn - male form, brown or blue haired [Formshifted]

Lenn prefers to be called Lenn (and with male pronouns) unless he's explicitly given someone permission otherwise, which currently is only Kamui and Emerald. After becoming immortal, his hair turns blue. His true form is the female form and permanently frozen in appearance at age 17, and his male form typically appears between 19-22, and can change at will. When using magic, his hair glows with a galaxy pattern and his nails turn gold. These changes are sometimes hidden in his formshift form, though only when he's concentrating on it. Lenn, by far, prefers the male form.

Distinct characteristics::

  • Ahoge. Dumbass hair because he stoopid.
  • Green eyes glow faintly, more noticeable in the dark.
  • Is always wearing his heart-shaped pendant. do not separate

Physical Appearance: (Lenn, 19+)

Physical Appearance: (Immortal)
Height: 5"11 | Weight: 130 lbs | Hair: Blue | Eyes: Forest Green

Physical Appearance: (Alina, 14-17)
Height: 5"7-11 | Weight: 100-130 lbs | Hair: Black-brown | Eyes: Forest Green

Misc::
- Has a deep singing voice. He doesn't like it. Kamui once told him that his speaking voice sounded like a teenage boy trying to sound edgy (rest in pieces voice modifying spell)
- His coat is borrowed from Kamui.
- AFAB. Don't point it out to him. Because of this, he's often mistaken as a young boy based on his looks and voice.
- Is able to change his speaking voice and maintain it for long periods, but typically uses a spell written in his mask to change it constantly just in case he slips.
- He knows his way around survival skills, but in general would rather not have to use those skills. Somehow very knowledgeable in archaic subjects, as well as unusually proficient in subjects that would take years of study.
- Loves tea, and hates soda and most sugary things. Milk tea is acceptable and his sugary drink of choice.
- favored scent is strawberry + plum + jasmine + smoke. A custom blend he gets for his shampoo; he dislikes wearing something as strong as perfume or cologne.
- terrible decision making skills. not to be confused with IQ. he has braincells, he doesn't use em.
has 28 blades outfitted in his assassin's suit. He's most usually wearing that, even under his normal clothes. the suit has mythril webbing woven - - between the layers, and is good for stopping most slashing and piercing attacks, but does nothing against blunt force and magic.
- Has a mythril corset-brigandine with armored skirt, but he hasn't worn that since abandoning his female persona. Swaps to a leather-plate armor later on; this time only normal steel.
- casual clothes consists of a sleeveless hoodie, elbow gloves, tattered black jeans, and sarashi around his waist. May or may not wear a normal cloth mask instead of the heavy one he usually wears.
- claims to be male, all the time, but really he's genderfluid, about 70-30 male to female persona on average.

Personality

Lenn is slow to trust, but also highly loyal to anyone he does decide to trust. Looking at him, you would think that he's an easygoing person who doesn't really care about much in the world— which he doesn't, not really, unless it involves something or someone he cares about. A little bit impulsive and rather stubborn; he seems to not have a sense of what's a "stupid idea" once he's set his mind to something. Sometimes, this can be a rather good thing, but most of the time, it isn't.

He's usually chill, but will quickly become NOT chill if there is an apparent threat to his friends/family. Conversely, he typically brushes off threats to himself, and may even get cocky toward those who challenge him. Terrible at knowing when to back down. Takes zero shit. Huge bitch please attitude. Tough as nails, but actually hides quite a bit of insecurity behind a cocky grin.

He curses a lot. He has almost no mind filter, and can be easily provoked to violence. Despite this, he dislikes dragging others in his own conflicts. He likes telling stories of his past, but at the same time seems to avoid saying anything much of substance of himself. Highly secretive, but that's not a trait one will notice at first glance. He views information and favors to be more or less of a transactional business, and hates holding debts. However unlikely it is, if someone saves his life, he will hold that in the highest regard regardless of his loyalties.

A massive nerd; has what seems to be an endless wealth of knowledge which he brushes off as "I like to learn about things." While he may not be able to heal, or forge weapons, or cook a palatable meal, he definitely knows about it. When asked about the local legends, it's easy to make him talk too much before he realizes he's said a suspicious too much, more than even the Lorekeepers of the Aegis clan know.

While his moral compass is nothing like any conventional one, he has strict lines that he's not willing to cross himself, most of which refer to protecting children, and shutting down illegal trafficking of any living, sentient being.

Towards his family, his attitude is somewhat like indifference. While he's devoted to fulfilling Azura's wishes for him, he claims he does so out of "owing a large debt" to the former Guardian of Arceus. Another reason he touts  is an "obligation" to do so, as he was adopted into her clan. To his birth family, he calls them irrelevant, and not worth more thought.

Inwardly, he fears his own incompetence, failure, defeat, and the very real fact that as strong as he is compared 'normal people', he's considered untalented and only got into a magic academy on a technicality than by merit, as most people are admitted under. Inferiority complex to a certain paragon mage and swordswoman from his youth. It can be said that his driving force is his desperation to fix everything in a hero-complex like way.

Profile

A demon child. Child truant and thief. Due to his upbringing, he doesn't have much in the ways of formal education, but was unusually skilled in combat and deception. At age thirteen, he was kicked out of his household, and lived on the streets for four years, before getting picked up by the Assassin's Guild, where he quickly rose through the ranks.

Before that, nobody really knew where Lenn came from, or what his story was, but he was good, and that was all that mattered. He showed up one day in the fighting rings, and trounced the entire opposition. Following that, he disappeared for a few months, only to return changed— he was no longer an idealistic kid with a winning streak. His face held a hunger for something higher than what people could hope to achieve, and a shadow that spoke of seeing one too many things. Not long after, he was inducted into the Assassin's Guild. He immediately set himself apart from the rest of the crowd— he was good at appearing unassuming, but held a track record of never failing to kill a target, no matter how difficult. He also held a track record for being quite fickle with his targets and payments—  sometimes he would accept a job for a meager price, and other times he would deny hits for hours, as if waiting for the commissioner to finally cave.

A little bit of digging would uncover the numerous names he holds as an alias, whether previously or currently, but none of them appear to be his real name. [Lenn Sianna] is as close to a real name as one can find; when asked if that name was his birth name, he would neither confirm nor deny. To the kids on the streets who he looks after, he is Alex, big brother and bringer of good things. On the night of the Blue Moon, he is Hikaru, great granddaughter of Azura Sianna, and the one who carries on the legacy of the Light's Blessing. To the rest of the Assassin's Guild and the majority of the Underworld, he is Nightshade, the uncrowned king of the Underworld, standing on equal footing as the true King of the Underworld, Kyle Lucan. He cares little for the title, but acknowledges that it came with perks and respect that are sometimes handy to have.

Given his mysterious origins, it's pretty hard to take anything he says as truth, especially when that truth is highly seeded with half-truths and misleading statements. But one thing he insists he would never lie on is that he is the adopted child of Azura Sianna, and her chosen heir.

Story

Backstory and History

Lenn's true identity is that of Princess Aliaentha Luxia, the second princess of Yuelin, thought to have died in the Areshia Academy fire five years prior.

He was born with undeveloped magic circuits, severely limiting his aura potential and ability. Because of this, and because the King preferred her elder sister and because there only needed to be one heir, Alina was raised not to be a ruler, but to be his sister's loyal servant and sword, living in the shadows to eliminate all those who threatened her. Even so, from a young age he far preferred to spar with the guards and ditch his etiquette lessons. He'd challenge the norms of femininity as well, showing up to training sessions in nothing but a tank top and pants — an outfit that he was scolded for for being "too boyish". The next time he showed up was in one of his fanciest dresses, one he tore straight down the middle in front of his teacher and father, and tied up into a set of makeshift "pants".

As he grew up, he was subjected to harsher and harsher training regimes. He was thrown into the nearby forest at age nine, told to "find herself a partner, or die alone in the forest". He met a snivy, and saved her from a hungry liepard. Since then, the two of them have been inseparable. The two managed to make their way back to the castle after six days. Because of his father's only concerns that he grew up to be a valuable tool to the family, and his mother's distant aloofness and obvious preference for his sister, he grew up with nothing but Giwira and books to keep him company. His family outfitted him with the best equipment: mythril armor, a mythril-mesh assassin's suit, and a mythril-plated dress, as well as a mythril-titanium sword, all custom forged for him.

As harsh as his childhood was it did quite positively shape his abilities growing up. He achieved a perfect link with Giwira at age 15, perfected mega-evolution at age 16, and was able to utilize dual-link shift at age 17. He never lived at the academy unlike the other students, however he did manage to make a few close friends, namely, his distant cousin Tsumiyuna, Kamui, a draukyrn attending the academy on scholarship, Aidryn, a non-binary person who first made him realize his genderfluidity, and Hayate, the eccentric heir to one of the fae clans.

Unfortunately, the destruction of Areshia Academy and his supposed "death" meant that he was no longer able to continue his formal education, and never quite perfected dual shifting, though the years following brought on much self-tuition and growth. Regardless, he never developed the aura capacity and capabilities to truly use magic. He's capable of using psychic magic, as it relates only to manipulating outside auras and auras within himself, and a few augmenting abilities he picked up off his friends. He also studied healing magic and charms and seals, however he's unable to use both because of his lack of ability to project his own aura. Quite a nerd about magical theory, actually, and is quick to understand how (theoretically) to do something after observing it only once or twice.
He took to the streets after his supposed death (actually almost getting disowned but he renounced his family name and status as heir before his father could disown him), living under a myriad of different names. Some recurring ones are Thea, Kei, Chi, and Wren. He lived nearly exclusively off stealing and money made from fighting in the Underworld fighting rings; he didn't have the face to busk, nor wanted to take chances at being discovered by taking legitimate jobs.

That didn't last long; not months later, he was drugged and kidnapped by an unknown group, having most likely noticed him from his stellar performance in the fighting rings. He was kept with many other children, of which he noticed most were girls, with high magical potential and much younger than him. (Why was he targeted? The first condition fit, but he shared no other similarities, and could be easily identified as a difficult target?) They were not particularly being harmed much, other than being kept constantly drugged to docility. Regardless, the kidnappers likely didn't expect to need to deal with an assassin, trained from youth to have superior drug and poison resistance. In the time he spent captive, he befriended a few of the kids, namely Griselda, a songstress-in-training from the northern plains. Despite the semi-conscious haze the kidnappers tried to keep everyone in, he found comfort in the tunes she'd sing or hum as much as she was lucid. Two weeks later, he managed to instigate a mass prison-break, fighting his way out literally by tooth and nail. For the first time in his life, he used magic extensively, burning through what magic circuits should have been there, but existed only as a shadow of what others' were. For the first time in his life, he had people to protect— and failed. And for the first time in his life, Lenn killed.

Badly injured from the escape attempt, he remembered nothing between leaving the kidnappers' keep to waking up in a stranger's house, four days later. Nothing, but an overwhelming guilt that he had failed in something, something that held great importance to him, but was now gone. His savior was Azura— as in Azura Sianna, an aunt of many generations past. The current Guardian of Arceus, and the one who had caused the schism of the Aegis clan. Azura explained that he had nearly died — would have died, had she not intervened. The magical damage he had caused to his own systems was exacerbating his injuries— and preventing her from healing him at all. She'd saved his life by connecting him to her own eternity core, making him quite literally a dead man walking.

She offered him two options— either form a contract with Arceus, who can repair his destroyed body, or live like this — bedridden — forever, as she would not let the only living person capable of inheriting Arceus's contract die. Really, it was only one option, that he had to accept the contract sooner or later.

He accepts the contract immediately— the effects do not take in full effect until he next dies, allowing all the changes to set in. Over the next several months, Azura and Arceus both serve as his mentors. He finally chooses to fully discard his female persona, now taking the name Lenn, and Azura's last name: Sianna. Even though he had never been formally adopted, Azura was more of a parent to him than either of his birth parents.

Their time together would be cut short, however. Having secured an heir, Azura reveals there is a thing all Guardians of Arceus must do eventually— sacrifice their life and soul to become part of the leyline that cycles aura through the region. The reason the region's natural aura was disappearing, and why newer generations were losing many of their abilities, was because her predecessor did not do this, and for two hundred years, the mantle of Guardian was never passed down. But be it foul luck or fate, the two would never make it to the Origin Temple, where the rite was to be held. Along the way, they were attacked by Team Shadow, who had some way to disable or bypass Azura's immortality, killing her as she took an attack intended for Lenn. In her final breaths, she sent Lenn back to their home, where the wards built over centuries would ensure nothing could harm him.

With Azura gone, he turned back to his old ways, fighting and killing for a living. He was invited to the Assassin's Guild by the leader, whom he only knew by his codename: Bloodblind. In the guild, he proved himself to be worth far more than he appeared to, quickly rising through the ranks to be deemed the most dangerous of them all. His ability was in part honed from a decade's worth of training, and in part abilities gained from being Arceus's Guardian. Enhanced strength, speed, access to an eternity's worth of knowledge, Arceus's aura reserves as part of its divinity core, and most importantly, his magic circuits repaired. More than repaired even; while it would never be on the level of normal people, it was roughly patched enough for him to use magic without nearly killing himself at the slightest use.

In the years following he would even be approached by Team Shadow, offering him hits that they did not want to be associated with. As far as he was aware, never again did they actively try to kill him again, and wariness was slowly replaced by spite and vengeance for his mentor. He started mentoring two kids of his own— Frey Gallaghan, a kid from the slums, and Mason Grey, one of the children the Assassin's Guild leader personally brought into the guild as an apprentice. Both wound up going their separate ways, Frey studying at Agris Academy, and Mason joining Team Shadow.

Eventually he cut ties with the guild, building his own territory at one of the "gates" to the Underworld, Galen Bronwell's tavern. Though it was never explicitly stated to be his, and gates were supposed to be a no-violence, neutral territory, because he frequented the place so often, and truly enforced those rules rather than let thinly veiled hostility slide, the place therefore became "his territory".

When the Aura Guardians arrive in Agris City, he reluctantly ends up helping them from the shadows, as they were his friends in his old life. Still, he tries to avoid them as much as possible, for the reason that he doesn't want them to learn of his old identity— that person was dead, as far as he was concerned. Lenn was no longer Alina, but a part of him still feared being judged by his friends, because he became the very thing they were supposed to fight against.

He's not afraid of death; he knows that revealing himself to the Aura Guardians means certain death for a criminal of his status— even though he cannot die, not as an immortal. But between revealing himself to protect his friends, when their base was raided by Team Shadow, and ignoring it and walking free, there was no choice to be made at all.

Skills

  • Martial Arts: Lenn is trained in various styles of martial arts. While he doesn't prefer hand to hand combat, he can hold his own to some extent against people of average skill.
  • Swordsmanship:  Lenn began training with a child-sized toy sword as soon as he could possibly swing one, and has further continued that training since. Swords have always been his preferred weapon of the trade.
  • Dagger and Throwing knives: Lenn is well practiced in these weapons, being his secondary weapons of choice.
  • Archery: More of a sniper than a quick draw archer; he favors knives in a medium range fight.
  • Spying: Lenn is well trained in the spying and espionage arts, though often he prefers using magic because it's more foolproof. Even so, he is easily able to vanish into a crowd or make his way into places he shouldn't be without the help of magic.
  • Crafting: A little bit unconventional with the things he makes, but he's knowledgeable enough with magical items to make modifications to his assassin's suit, forge a blade of pure crystal, enhance the pendant his sister made for him to store multiple pokemon, and create a gadget that summons Kamui's spear for him without him needing to use aura to activate it.

Abilities

  • Psychic Magic: Lenn's preferred style of magic, as it burns him out less. Most often seen using teleportation, telekinesis, and light mind reading. He's very skilled at it, being the only form of magic he was able to use for years, and he's able to astral project for short periods of time, as well as create and maintain a portal to home. Both of these skills were put better into use only after he formed a contract with Arceus.
  • Elemental Magic: Despite it being the most taxing form of it, Lenn prefers cloaking his body in draconic energy, letting his attacks deal both physical and elemental damage as he fights. He's not particularly used to using spells.
  • Healing Magic: He's aware of how it works, but he doesn't use it very often. Of this category of magic, he uses Sleep and Freeze most often. And.. theoretically, if the person was willing, he could bring them back to life, but…..
  • Illusory Magic: Very basic knowledge, only enough to hide his presence when stealth is needed.
  • Creation Magic: An ability exclusive to Arceus and its guardian. The ability to convert aura into matter, and return said matter to aura within a short period of time. This consumes a lot of aura.
  • Thousand Blades: Makes use of Arceus's creation magic to create physical blades of pure aura. The creations can be used as weapons, but are usually less durable than real steel, and can be returned to aura at will.
  • Formshift: An ability exclusive to immortals. While they are locked to their True Form, they are able to expend aura to temporarily change their form. Lenn overuses this to maintain his male form.

Items & Equipment

  • Ryuseishin: A blade of japanese-esque design origin; it is a slender, straight, blade with a primary edge and secondary edge. The secondary edge is not as sharp as the main, and only runs about 3/4 of the way down the blade. The guard is quite thin, with the shape of Giwira's wings carved into it, and decorated with a filigree that looks both like a heart and an infinity symbol from different angles.
  • Knives and Daggers: A set of throwing knives and two pairs of daggers, sheathed in his suit.
  • Bow: A modern design composite bow. It's usually stored away when not in use.
  • Pendant:A necklace, first created by Emerald, that was designed to store Lenn's aura and enhance his magic. He has since modified it to store up to four pokemon.
  • Light's Blessing: While he never learned how to create these, he carries a few of them for emergencies.
