About

Nahash, once named Nathaniel, helped raise and build a town, forming his church in the town's early days. He used it to bring everyone together and raise morale, preaching with strong morals over written words. But as the town settled, so too did the church. He got comfy in his position of high priest, and held it for well over ten years. But as money began to get tight, and the church was in risk of not being funded, Nahash took to sneaking out late at night… Rumors of what he was doing began to rise. But as time went on, they became more and more vile and disreputable. Until one night, his clergy confronted him. Nahash refused to admit to his wrongdoings, which led to his clergy waterboarding the answers out of him. But as he continued to hold his tongue, one heron took matters into their own hands. They declared he was Nāḥāš, the serpent from the bible. They ripped out his fangs and marred his tattoo of devotion, convincing the others to throw him out. And with that, he was banished. Left with his reputation in ruins, and his pride as a rattlesnake wrenched from his mouth.

Recovery

Nathaniel struggled to get on his feet again after that, his heart twisted with grief, despair and most of all… betrayal. He had been putting his neck on the line, trying to keep the church afloat only for him to be so thoroughly ashamed. He was spiteful, and it drove him on to pick up a gun. In his youth he had helped out in hunts, but this was different… His new targets were far different now. He pursued any bounties he was given, and took them each down, no matter how long it took. But as he got back on his feet finally, his goals changed. With enough money to live comfortably, he shed his past morals. He renamed himself Nahash, wearing the name with a new found pride. For he was now a devil, the very evil he was accused of being. No better than the sin he had so deeply despised. He was going to hunt down sin like a dog and punish any trace of it he found, like any good devil should. He began working outside of the law, setting his sights on the vilest criminals he could find.

Current Life

With his newfound goals, Nahash worked up a new reputation for himself. A skilled sharpshooter who worked outside of the law. A coffin was sure to be in order when he came into town. And soon enough, he met someone willing to work alongside him. A spunky little mamba named Foxglove. A flirty man who would lure their targets in with sweet words, until Nahash was able to set his sights on them. Taking them down with one lethal shot, leaving him and Foxglove to split the goods.

Foxglove [ Partner in Crime ]

The energy and sass to Nahash's grumpiness. Nahash is very quiet, and not exactly an easy face to approach. But Foxglove didn't even bat an eye when he walked up to bother the old rattlesnake, which Nahash respected. Nahash views Foxglove as a ‘naive youngin’ due to his younger age, but he trusts him, as he's seen how well Foxglove handles himself. Nahash secretly gives Foxglove a bigger cut out of the bounties they get, as Nahash has little need for anything beyond the essentials.

Unnamed Heron [ Enemy ]

I'll finish this up later properly but- The heron amongst his clergy members. A clever bird who never really liked Nahash. Whilst Nathaniel was getting up to shady business, it was nothing like the rumors Heron began to spread. Heron did it to take Nathaniel's position as head priest. The two know full well that was why Heron did it, like a dark secret kept under lock and key. Heron has since destroyed the church Nathaniel worked so hard to keep in good graces. Turning it into nothing more than a vile cult of worshippers. Its followers being lured into believing Heron's lies of supremacy and authority.
