See Wilbur’s story when he was younger and a main character.

Wilbur Akai settled in Paldea after his Gym Challenge, where he had Hanako and met Professor Turo Konjirai. Under the Professor’s guidance, Wilbur managed to obtain his PhD in Past Pokémon. His current interest is finding out if Walking Wake, Raging Bolt and Gouging Fire are real, as their finding could potentially change everything he knew about the Legendary Beasts. Turo and Wilbur still work together, as they’re curious about the Scarlet and Violet books and the Great Crater of Paldea.

On the side, Wilbur offers starters to new trainers who study in Uva Academy, Mesagoza. He’s also doing his best as a single dad. Luckily, he’s got Riko, his Hisuian Decidueye, to help out! Riko is helping out so much that Hanako calls him “Papa Riko”, which makes Wilbur’s friends tease him a little, but he doesn’t mind it. Wilbur really cares about his own, unusual, little family.
