Badger the kind
Badger is a quiet kind Esk that lives in an old stone cottage with a thatched roof in the middle of a forest. In his previous life, he didn't have very many visitors, and was at peace with his laid-back life up to the very end. Now, he spends most of his time with Gnat, Prune, Bug, and Flea.
Personality
A loyal young man, sometimes lets his temper get the better of him and will snap. He has a habit of letting his will-power fall if it means he would be able to get something he wants, even to the point of overlooking long-term goals to accomplish short-term goals. He loves to laugh, and really enjoys working with Zeki to make sure his territory is safe from monsters that would bring harm to the citizens.

[ best friend, best girl, best warrior ] Attached at the hip, these two are inseparable. They work together monster hunting, they have been best friends since they were children, and Mateo has always had a lot of feelings for Zeki.
Dag
[ dragon companion ] The first dragon companion that Zeki convinced to hang out with them, Dag is fiercely loyal to both Mateo and Zeki.
Cadd
[ dragon companion ] Cadd most likely wouldn't have been convinced to join the party without his friend Dag's convincing, and yet here we are... Doesn't seem to be as emotionally invested in the human and elf, but seems to like them because Dag does.
Maverick
[ rival ] Along with Zander, is just a general pain in Mateo's side at any given opportunity.
Zander
[ rival ] Always found with Maverick, Zander tends to make things more difficult for Mateo and Zeki, always pointing out inadequacies or flaws in their efforts to eradicate monsters.
Era
[ acquaintance ] Mateo is intimidated to the core whenever he even thinks of Era. She is no-nonsense and always takes her work seriously. Mateo has even heard rumors that she and Taryn turned their partners into animals because they got in the way too much.
Taryn
[ acquaintance ] Another intimidating woman that doesn't let anyone interfere with her goals, Mateo tries to just avoid her in general so he doesn't inadvertently make her mad.
