Personality: Haunted and disturbed by the insidious Urge to kill and her mysterious past, Phaeress desires nothing more to be happy in the arms of their beloved. They hate their Urge, and with every murder believe they must be served justice, allowing themself to be beaten, maimed, anything in the name of some sort of penance. Phaeress desperately wants to be free before she commits the atrocities that plague their mind, and they hate themself so deeply for the acts she does commit that she does not see how their friends love them so, seeing the good in Phaeress, their real self. 

Theme: Aurora - Your Blood

Phaeress's origins are as much a mystery to them as they are to everyone else. All they know is that they were taken my Mindflayers, subjected to the tadpole, and found by Velvine, Lae'zel, and the rest of their unlikely group. The only thing that she knows for sure, however, is that whoever she was before being kidnapped could not have been good, for they possess such a skill for slaughter and the disturbing delight in all things to do with blood, viscera, and corpses. A Dark Urge corrupts her mind, an Urge that disgusts her, and when their hands move on their own and their eyes open to a corpse laid out before them, they hate themself all the more. 

Phaeress doesn't know who to turn to. She has sought penance from Abdirak and his goddess Loviatar and understanding and insight from Velvine and her head full of random knowledge. Perhaps next, she'll confess to Lumizire and have his Oath of Vengeance smite her outright...

Through great effort, Phaeress resisted her Urge time and again, confiding in her friends and earning their trust. Her friends help them to continue to remain true to themself through measures that include tying them up at night.

In the end, Phaeress rediscovered their old self, finding out they were not just Bhaalspawn, but Bhaal's favorite, his chosen, much to the chagrin of their sibling, Orin. Upon killing Orin and taking revenge, Phaeress denied her birthright and spat in the face of Bhaal, being killed by him only to be revived by Withers and cured of her Urge forever.

Now Phaeress can live without fear, pledging themself to good, to ridding Baldur's Gate of the church of Bhaal, and to Wyll's side forever.

Perhaps Phaeress should thank Orin for tearing their brain apart, because this new life they have is so worth living.
