Personality
Devlin is a very picky person when it comes to the people he interacts with. While he's not necessarily anti-social, he also has a clear distaste for people and seldom trusts others. He is very demeaning to even those he does deem worthy enough to hold a conversation with, constantly talking down to them with an air of arrogance.
Devlin wants things done the way he says to do them, without any question. He feels, as Captain, he should be given the respect he deserves from his crew.
During seldom occasion, he can be very clingy to whomever happens to be the current object of his affection.

Summary
Devlin Drake ( Illiad ) was born to a sickly mother and an unknown father whom abandoned him at an early age. Being the only boy born to his mother, Devlin was quite overprotected by not only her but his six sisters as well. Devlin detested each and every one of them due to their constant teasing and smothering, even growing a slight phobia of nyx females for days to come.
Devlin's mother also outcast Devlin's half-brother whom was also left in her care when Aurum abandoned them all. Although she tried her best to be as motherly as she could to the boy, her adoptive son was almost too much for her to handle; as he constantly was putting Devlin through torment with his attempts to drown him, torture him, etc. After his attempts had gone too far, she abandoned him as well, sending him away from their family to which Devlin resented her and him for, as he was the only male in his otherwise female-run life that he was used to. Even if he feared him, he didn't quite understand why he'd leave.
Years came and went and Devlin's own illness inherited from both sides of the family began to become more and more evident and dangerous to his well-being. Feeling that human medicine would help him better than anything she could provide, his mother took him and his six sisters and taught them how to maintain a human form before forcing them to live in a domesticated home.
Desperate for some sort of cure, his mother and eldest sisters worked to bring their only male heir to doctors but every where they brought him sang the same tale of his early demise. He'd reach death long before he'd reach his 18th human year. Hearing this, their mother dealt with great depression and sadness, cursing their father before she succumbed to her own early grave.
His eldest sister then took lead as the head of the family and worked to provide them with everything they could ask for. Fearing his own mortality however, Devlin fled from his home when they weren't paying much attention and ran for the sea--the only thing he was familiar with in their otherwise human world.
It was then that a Pirate Captain found him, far away from any shore and took him in as his own once he'd heard of the boys plea. Grateful for the male helping hand, Devlin was taught how to fight his own illness. It was a basic rule that the Captain had taught him, those who call upon death will gladly receive it and those who fight death will struggle on with life. Taking those words into consideration, the boy changed his name from Illiad to Devlin and worked to strengthen both his body and health.
Hearing rumors across the sea of a magical cure, Devlin became infatuated with preserving his own life and sought out a certain mythical creature. Supposedly, if one ate a mermaid's tail, they would grant themselves with eternal life and freedom from any ailments.
However, the pirate Captain of the ship had more pressing matters of concern. Plundering, Pillaging, raping and all the typical bearings of a normal pirate ship. Due to this, Devlin had planned his own coup against the Captain he'd grown fond of and considered like a father. He knew the man had planned to have Devlin as the next leader of their ship, all that needed to be done was to bring his untimely demise earlier than anticipated.
As fate would have it, it would seem that around the time Devlin was planning this little take-over that he would kidnap a young boy whom would change the course of his life forever.
