Childhood

Clemence was a nowhere tiefling kid, adopted by a kind family who found her on the doorstep of their house one autumn day. Growing up, Clem didn’t play with neighbour kids much. Which was barely *her* choice, honestly. Other kids, who were mostly humans and Sometimes elves just didn’t like the weird and aloof gray damn adoptee with HORNS. The only reason Clem was never a bullying victim is her strength, very obviously disproportionate for a girl her age. Well, the good thing is — Clem didn’t care much about their antipathy. She never wanted to spend time with them either anyway, why would she want to play with these dumbasses when she has Lynthra, aka the coolest elder sister in the world, a loving family and a billion ways to entertain herself anyway?

But with time passing, the kids grew up to be teenagers, and so happens the teenagers are usually Much Less tolerable and more reckless. And Clem herself…Well. Began showing signs of anger management issues. Which is a very typical thing for a teen, of course, but it Really did cause troubles for Clem and her family. I’ve already mentioned that she was naturally strong? Additionally to that, she wasn't very good at managing her power. And once the bravest of the kids tried to openly bully her, provoking the girl to get into a fight, she just. Broke his neck. She didn't want to, she said [but did she, really?], and that incident was even hushed up somehow, but since then no one outside of her family ever wanted to interact with ‘a fiend’, in any way. Her family still loved her dearly and tried their best to support her and to help her, because it was very obvious to everyone that something is Wrong with her, she was never communicative about the dark thoughts crawling in her head. It didn’t matter. She was okay.

The Cult arc

..She was okay until Lynthra left their home to become an apprentice of a local druid. The loneliness hit hard and mentally Clem was in a very bad place. And after another incident or two she started to notice fear in her parents’ eyes, which broke her heart. And once when she was having a breakdown because "they definitely consider their own daughter a monster, and were just too scared to say it out loud", she...Killed them. The mysterious evil voice in her head that got literally two loud, intrusive and literally impossible to ignore anymore, convinced her to and it felt more like a nightmare than something that was actually going on? [Derealization goes brrr]. When she realized what she'd done, she was horrified. The only thing that scared her even more was the perspective of Lynthra coming home just to find out her sister was Actually a cruel monster after all. Clem would prefer her sister to think that *all* family, including herself, died that day. So she burned her family house and left, without any idea where exactly she’s going.

Her path led her to the Cult of [SOME PLACEHOLDER GOD] and although it's a lot to unpack here, I'm currently to lazy to do it. Let's just say it wasn't very good for her mental health and her already shattering apart by this plot point self-perception. Lots of bad things happened to her than, most of them were the direct consequences of her own choices. But she also got a weird and messed-up, but still a sense of belonging, for some time. Being honored as one of the best for the first time in her life also affected the champion, how could it not. It also made her self-easteam very unstable and vulnerable, as she existent in environment where she felt the need to prove her worth constantly, as the very few episodes when she was the disappointment destroyed her mentally.
