[RSW] Hollowpaw

Kithood [0-6 moons] >

Hollowkit was born to Blazestone and Mosswater, alongside his siblings Hazekit, Frogkit, and Murkykit. From a young age he was raised to learn sign language, and he thought his father Blazestone was just the coolest! He didn't really mind that Frogkit was Mosswater's favorite, because he had a third role model in his life -- Blazestone introduced the kittens to his mentor Starlinghollow from a young age, and the elderly tom enjoyed keeping up with them, to everyone's surprise. Hollowkit knew he was named after the tom, but didn't think too much of it other than having an extra playmate who didn't mind his climbing all over him! The other kittens were fun to play with too, of course.

Some cats passed away over time while he was a kitten, but he didn't know any of them and was too young to understand some of the rumours and context around their deaths. When he's around 3 moons old, half of his family gets seriously sick. Blazestone and then Hazekit and finally Frogkit are all rushed to the herbalist's den. Hollowpaw is worried for them, and once he hears it was caused by bad prey he becomes a bit reluctant to eat anything. He doesn't want anyone to test it because what if someone else gets sick? Instead he takes on a ritual of really thoroughly checking the prey he eats before he ever takes a bite. Luckily, all of his family members recover, but some are more shaken than others.

As he started getting older he began to look to his parents and Starlinghollow for an earlier introduction to training, wanting to be ready for his apprenticeship. The other kittens in the nursery have already graduated now and he really wants to join them! Alas, he has to wait his turn. One of the apprentices he does hear failed their assessment though, and had to be hold back... what a shame. Hollowkit guesses maybe they needed more practice, and that's why he's gonna start super early so he can be on time!

Just before he's slated to become an apprentice, a group of refugee cats appear in camp, battered and tired. They say they're from CloudClan, one of the other Clans that Hollowkit has heard about. This is the time where he's made aware of the ongoing attacks more properly, though he doesn't overall let it get him down. Starlinghollow sits him down one day to tell him to be ready and that he'll have to train hard so that he can face whatever comes next, but Hollowpaw already has that covered, he feels like.

Apprenticeship [6-12 moons] >

Finally, he and his siblings are able to take the next step into Clan life and become apprentices! He gets Blizzardshroud as a mentor. He also watches his namesake be named and elder, finally retiring after stubbornly refusing to (he thought it was a little silly that the elder warrior quipped about still having plenty of work left in him, but maybe that means he was right to look up to such a dedicated and hard worker. That was what HailClan was all about, after all.) Within the first couple of days though, more cats have gone missing or been found dead. He thinks the first snows of winter are neat, but he can't help but feel there's something lurking -- unusual for him, normally he wouldn't care. He puts it out of mind as best as he can.

His first moon of training goes fairly well, he thinks. And then two moons after, a much larger group of cats arrive in HailClan seeking refuge with the prior arrivals. Something is definitely amiss, and when Tulippaw dies from falling off a ledge, Hollowpaw starts to finally feel a bit nervous about the current state of affairs. Are they really safe, here in HailClan with so many strong warriors? Or is that lurking feeling going to get worse?
