Becoming Shizun

Xuan Renfeng had no interest in taking on a personal disciple. Too much effort, too troublesome, and he'd have something to worry about. No, he was content with the peace and quiet that had been his immortal life for the past few hundred or so years, thank you very much. He didn't need to worry about whether he was imparting the right knowledge onto a budding young mind or what to feed a growing student.

If anything, hearing about the disciple-shizun relationship portrayed in the Regret of Chunshan only solidified his choice in remaining utterly and peacefully student-less! How ridiculously unfilial of a student to do such a thing to his shizun! Not that he'd read the book, of course. Such things were beneath him- but he'd heard talk of it from the mortals living beneath his mountain, and he'd been absolutely appalled.

It was with this mindset that the Moonlit Immortal Lord visited Tian Ti Temple at the behest of its leader, where he was met with hundreds of bright, eager eyes- an expression he'd seen far too many times in his lifetime. He swept past these young disciples with a polite nod and approached the Sect Leader who bowed deeply in greeting. After returning the bow and exchanging a few pleasantries, the aged priest called for his head disciple to show him to his chambers.

Xuan Renfeng's cool gaze flickered over the Tian Ti Temple's head disciple. Then, he blinked and looked again.

He was met with a pair of warm, dark eyes that peered at him... almost as coolly as he'd glanced at the boy. There was no intense awe or wonder in those eyes, just a mild curiosity and a calm, steady gaze.

And an overwhelming amount of potential.

A potential that would unfortunately be wasted if he did not have the right guidance.

For the first time in his life, Xuan Renfeng regarded a young, budding cultivator with interest. And when he left Tian Ti Temple after a few days, it was with a new disciple.

His very own personal disciple.
