STORY

✦ BEGINNINGS & GRIEF ✦

Terry was born to the higher classes of Meraki as the second son succeeding the Liberius family; living his life well loved and cherished by his family. Even with the importance of this role, no pressure about it was ever put on him and he lived a relatively normal pleasant childhood, although a lonely one, since the other children outcasted him for his status and insignificance compared to his older brother. He was bothered, but instead of pondering about it, he used the time he spent with his parents to cope. Growing up, he liked to watch his brother practice outside on the fields, and sometimes he would “practice” with him. He started training to be in the military forces at age ten, and continued to focus on his swordsmanship alongside his older brother; working hard day and night.

In his early twenties, Terry met Shotoku wandering around on his horse during his patrol duty, injured and barely alive. For some time, he and the samurai were stern with each other due to their diferences, but they grew to like each other as time passed. The two became very close friends and pursued their career as swordsmen together. After some time, Terry was knighted and became a recognized swordsman along with Shotoku, whom he'd be particularly fond of by then.

Eventually, as they grew older, their troubles called and they had little time for each other. Because of their duties, they both found themselves going on and off with their relationship. Besides the few visits from Shotoku, he didn’t get to see him at all, especially during the events of Agnes’ Reign of Terror, where he'd been betrayed by his love. However, even then, his love for Shotoku would remain unchanged and unconditional. He went on years working alone, until the day Agnes was finally slain. The death of the monarch would allow all the citizens of Meraki to rebuild their homes, culture, families and relationships, including Terry. After some time of rebuilding, he and Shotoku would wed, allowing Terry to stay beside his beloved once more. While Shotoku retired from his swordsmanship and started to study medicine, Terry stayed in the force. He made sure to keep Shotoku in check, as his health seemed concerning from then on.

The series of events that had occured in the past few years had rendered his husband into an estranged man, shunned by his own townfolk and the world. Being his lover, Terry would recieve whiplash also; snarky remarks from his peers, and even his own brother. One day, a sudden tradgedy befell the town which he resided, which sent the people of Meraki into a frenzy, including his Shotoku, his husband. It was a massacre on a village nearby, taking the lives of over a hundred people. It was with this occurence that Shotoku had broke out and fled from home, away from Terry. Terry wouldn't see him for days, until the discovery of his corpse had been reported to him, after he'd been suddenly assasinated.

Terry fell into a depressive state after Shotoku’s death, and distanced himself from many people who knew him, including his brother who was the last of the family he had. Outside of his profession, he actively refused to communicate with anyone. To keep himself at bay with his grief, he slowly retreated into alcoholism, and drank until he was nothing but a shell of his former self. His relationship with his brother crumbled as his grief, habits, and anger persisted and grew. At the battle for his home, Meraki, Terry left Dvalin alone to fend for himself so Terry could die by his own hands, rather than those of his own people. He went into the outskirts of his town where he and Shotoku had first met, and he stood under a great thunderstorm until he was struck down, and left to perish in the mud.

Seemingly, with the end of his pain, he expected to wake up next to his husband, but was greeted by the eerie silence of oblivion instead, where there was nothing but his memories. In this state of limbo, Terry witnessed every moment of his life, from beginning to end, play on loop. He relived the memories with his family, with Shotoku, and all of his disappointments, regrets, and anguish. By then, it seemed that there was no hope or salvation beyond his confines, and he could only sit back in agony for all eternity. No one came for him, no spirit nor god, not even Shotoku. He remained, until the diety Tira Olhos came to him with a grand proposition.

Terry was given a chance to escape his state of suffering, restore good to the world, reunite with Shotoku and his people, but at hefty, yet simple costs. Already in a mentally deranged state, he didn’t hesitate to take the opportunity. After decades, the world would know his presence once more, awakening with the thunder, sparking a new fire within him.

✦ CURRENT✦

As of current times, Terry is an active council member associated with Agnes' denomination and The Revolutionists and their journey to become a dominating world power. Throughout most of the magic world, he and his lineage is believed to be dead, except to a few who live under his rule in his newly developed country, New Meraki. Ever since his tradgedy, he's fallen into a spiral of destructive smoking and (even more) drinking habits, drug misuse, and sex addiction, eager to regain what was once his. In legend, he is known as "Der Seemann": the gloomy ghost sailor roaming the seas for the riches he seeks.
