Profile
It is the likes of the spirits which have bestowed my grief. The spirits who gave me fire, and ask that I not destroy!
Shotoku is the second to last savior from Neorah's divine and holy legacy. He was a swordsman who was classified as a ronin and war criminal from Jiyu, and is remembered for his mistakes and grave wrongs to his world. Although he's well remembered (albiet not fondly), the history people have on him is very vague; clouded with bias and confusion.
Having already passed away, he roams the spiritual and physical realm as a tame spirit. His appearance is often regarded as an omen.
Shotoku was and still is, a troubled man, and he generally disliked talking to strangers and/or opening up to people. He was known as a man of few (powerful) words, and for often working alone.
He was unchanging and stoic on the surface, but those who found a way to dig deeper would find his more softspoken and kind side. Many of his clients and good acquaintances described him to be very patient, gentle, and empathetic. Shotoku cares very deeply about those who are close to him, his friends, family, significant others, and his people.
Even though the people that care about him liked to assume the best of him, Shotoku couldn't hide his destructive and "angry" nature. When decomposed and stripped of his diginity and mind, he became isolated and cruel. At times, it would affect his leadership and the way people percieved him.

Beginnings
When he was a child, Shotoku was still quite timid and shy, always sticking to his mother's side outdoors.
He worked alongside his mother, helping her farm and harvest the crops they would grow as lowly farmers. Although he was deemed strange by many of the people, he stayed content when all was well.
Apprenticeship
When his mother died of illness, he was left alone to travel to find his calling, studying in many areas of expertise internationally as a loner. Sometime into his travels, his precense was requested back at home in Jiyu, where it was revealed that he was the next coming of Goddess Neorah. In his teens, he pursued bushido and trained in martial arts, struggling as it became increasingly more difficult to fit in with his peers regarding where he came from. Rather than seeing Shotoku as their equal, he was frequently cornered and beat down. In his years of training at the dojo, he'd learn all the ways to be cruel.
Shotoku worked under Shogunate Daihono, and was held in high regards when it came to the leader's battles and bloodshed of rivaling clans, and neighboring countries. He was given the title "Shogunate's Doll" for his civil and unwavering obidience. He was a special unit in his sector, wielding bewildering powers and abilities that were sure to frighten anyone from several nations away.
However, on one very fateful day, Shotoku would pursue rampage on his country. After slaughtering the dojos to silence them, he followed Daihono into battle and led him to his death, allowing the leader to be mauled the angry civilians for the invasion of their borders. After his act of treason, he fled to save his life as the walls of his country burnt down into nothing but ashes and clumps of debris. In his escape, he vowed to never return.
Settlement
After a long journey through several territories, he found himself settled in Meraki, just overseas from his former home. Here, he also became aquainted with both the Liberius and Agnes monarchies, becoming especially fond of Thierry Liberius.
During his time in the country, he dedicated his life and work to the cause of a better world, hoping that he could restore balance to what his roots had tipped over. He had initially believed that his comrade, Snowfrost Agnes, meant the same, as they had frequently worked together on the matter. However, the more that he did and dwindled on Agnes' commands, the more uneasy he felt putting so much trust in him.
Shotoku spent the majority of his career assisting Snowfrost Agnes in his plan for world “peace”. This terrifying era in Mageia is widely known now as Agnes’ Reign of Terror. Shotoku, as the coming Mageia, had killed and wronged many innocent people during Agnes’ pursuit of peace. He was a prominent figure in Agnes’ Reign of Terror, and was loathed immensely.
Retirement
Shotoku would only know peace when he had finally gotten a hold of his mind, and permanently ended Agnes and his reign. However, he would not be able to prevent the aftermath of it all, and niether how he had been percieved from then on. Due to this and a handful of other factors (which occured shortly afterwards), Shotoku stepped down from swordsmanship, and became kindled with medicine instead, finally pursuing his wish to live quietly and without violence.
Unfortunately, he was never able to live his life quite the same, still tainted with misfortune and sorrow. At the age of 55, he was ambushed and killed, far, far from home.
He was married to the Liberius family's second son, whom he referred to as "Terry." They met as complete polar opposites, but despite their differences, Shotoku loved him dearly.
• Ashitaka
He conceived his second child Ashitaka, with Thuy later when he was older. He cares for Kylo just as much as he did Takuya, but he couldn’t bond with him properly either. After Shotoku died, his son was alone. He regrets putting the only person he had left to love to go on such a difficult path of struggle and tradgedy.
• Takuya
He had Takuya with Camila, who he met back in his younger days as a training swordsman in the homeland, and the two’s rocky relationship had a heavy influence on their son.
Takuya was still a little kid when his parents divorced, so he did not fully understand its works. Most of the information he got about his father was from his troubled mother. Shotoku was not all that bad of a person in truth, however, Takuya believes otherwise. Shotoku is deeply saddened by their relationship, and carries much guilt from it.
• Thuy
They met when Shotoku was around his 40s, during the hardest times of his life. She was originally Shotoku’s assistant who helped him around the office and medical work. They grew close in their work and Thuy would eventually bear their son, Ashitaka.
Even after they had their son, Shotoku never married her, and they remained as doctor to assistant. As Shotoku’s mental state worsened, it became harder to maintain or be certain of his relationship with Yumehara. After a while, Yumehara began to question him, which led to many arguments and damage in their relationship. Shotoku tried to stay with her to raise Ashitaka, but after a while, they both agreed to split.
