Overview

Surely we've enough time to sit down and enjoy such a beautiful view. Wouldn't you agree, my friend?

Iknaeia was once the picture of perfection in the eyes of those he came into contact with back in his homeland. Born to a noble family, their status and name alone carried them far in terms of respect. However, it was not the life they wished to lead. Rather than attending fancy parties and socializing with other members of the upper-class, Iknaeia wished to leave their lofty heights and see the world before it was too late for them to venture out. Humble, kind, and hard-working to a fault, Iknaeia has come to Ethovalon and joined with the GCSF with stars in their eyes and a spring in their step.

Personality

Nature: Brave

Characteristic: Highly curious

Diplomatic

For most of Iknaeia's life, he has been preparing to become a member of his family's business. As such, he was taught how to be cordial and delicate where possible. He's skilled at both speaking professionally as a diplomat, but also generally treating situations with other people with care and sensitivity while keeping a level head.

Compassionate

Iknaeia was taught from a young age to be open-minded and to welcome any and all who came to greet him. While his friendly attitude and experience in business dealings have made him very easy to work with and speak to, his kindness comes from the heart as he truly does care about others. They try and understand the plights of those they come across, and are willing to extend a hand where they deem it's needed.

Astute

Iknaeia is able to pick apart situations they are presented with and break down the details as necessary. They can read the room extremely well, and generally knows what to say and how to say it. Their attention to their surroundings makes them not only a very shrewd individual, but one with an impressive amount of social awareness and intelligence.

Hard-working

Iknaeia puts his best foot forwards when they are given work to do. They have grown into a very responsible individual who takes their work seriously, especially when it pertains to aiding other people. Despite what may appear to be impressive work ethics at first, Iknaeia has a tendency to overexert themself and bite off quite a bit more than they can chew.

Sentimental

Iknaeia has a hard time letting go of the past. He cherishes his memories with his loved ones and in his favourite places, and tends to become so attached he feels listless when something impacts how he remembers something he thinks fondly of. While it makes him a soft-hearted individual, it also impedes on his judgment and decision-making and he can stubbornly pursue his ideals in the name of sentiment.

Selfless

Iknaeia's care for others causes him to place those around him above himself. In addition to his tendency to work himself too hard at times, he will also readily throw himself in harm's way to protect other people. That habit also comes partially out of the vaguely prideful image he has of himself, that being of someone who can endure and perservere better than others. Whether or not this is true can depend on the situation.

Single-minded

When Iknaeia sets his mind on something, it can be very hard to persuade him otherwise. They're determined to a fault, pursuing their goals even to the point significant personal cost. Depending on how desperate they may be, they may even start to cause harm to others without intending to. Their reasons for behaving like this may not always for the "right" reasons -- despite their best efforts.

Aimless

As an heir, Iknaeia has not always had a clear direction in life. Most of their path forward was decided for them at a young age, and they only know that they wish to stray from that path to make their own way. However, without the history that most others may have had by their age experimenting with what they wish to be, it's difficult for them to find a solid purpose or ultimate goal. They know what to do in the short-term, but long-term plans can be difficult to discuss with them.

History

Home: Daimoneon, Athanaseia

Place of Birth: Daimoneon, Athanaseia

Daimoneon was a figurative -- and in some cases, literal -- city of gold. It was a place of opportunity, creativity, and creation though it was also one of the fanciest places on the entire island. As such, coming to Daimoneon was often deemed an honour and a privilege to those who lived outside of it. Filled to the brim with life and activity, Daimoneon was appropriately called the "Heart of Athanaseia", a title with more than one meaning in and of itself.

Summary

Born to a noble family, much of Iknaeia's early life was filled with monotonous preparations to turn him into an heir worth of inheriting the legacy of his forebearers.
As they grew, they came to want something more than just the life they had been leading thus far. They wished to see the world, and so they pitched to their family that they would become a diplomat of Athanaseia and bring back information about the world at large.
Iknaeia chose Adrasteos -- a young mage he had once met while visiting the city of Kharisma -- as his bodyguard for the journey across the ocean. Together, the two traveled to Ethovalon and formed the a wayfaring team.

Backstory

tumblr_my6fu5pM7T1t2dtmxo1_640.jpg

Iknaeia was born on the island of Athanaseia in the city of Daimoneon, a place considered to be the gleaming capital of the isle. It was the center of commerce, academics, the arts, and many more disciplines. For many young Athanasians, going to Daimoneon to hone their craft is a long-held dream. For Iknaeia, it was both a place of great pride, respite, and warmth -- it was their beloved home.

Iknaeia was the child of a noble family, one that frequently sponsored projects that would crop up around the city. They were renown for their willingness to invest in new and strange ideas, notably ones that would advance the field of magical research and studies. Though his parents and older relatives were the ones to take care of the business side of their business, Iknaeia was taught at a young age that he would one-day be in their shoes and that he needed to prepare for it. Iknaeia was happy to oblige -- for a time.

Though they were considered a prodigy and received glowing praise from those around them, as they grew into adolescence, it became obvious to them that they wanted more from life than simply inheriting their family's business. Despite this desire however, they never brought it up to their family and merely continued to shadow their parents in their endeavours in preparation. Otherwise, they had a relatively mundane upbringing with friends they were happy with, and a life of comfort that they would try and share with others as often as they could.

In a plan to carve out some sort of space for himself, Iknaeia presented the idea of traveling to other islands in order to learn what the cultures outside of Athanaseia were like. Though he claimed it would be a good business move to build relations with other places and create a new stream of imported goods, it was mainly an excuse to leave their home and seek new experiences. For as much as they loved Daimoneon, there was nothing more that Iknaeia desired than to change the city for the better and they believed the means to do so was across the globe.

Their parents were initially against the idea, but the members of the board who were present at the time were enamoured with the proposal that they urged that Iknaeia be allowed to carry it out. Seeing it as an opportunity for him to acquire more knowledge, their parents allowed them to go -- provided they were not alone.

Iknaeia, over the course of a few months, was presented with a number of promising candidates from various organizations, guilds, and institutions who would serve as a bodyguard for them during their time away from home. He was picky with who he selected, secretly searching for a companion he would enjoy being with rather than just muscle hired by his family. Eventually, he settled on a mage from another city with middling scores in academics and a rather bland history overall, deciding that it would be a good chance for someone who may not otherwise leave the island to take the trip as well.

The chosen mage moved to Daimoneon soon after, and Iknaeia was soon introduced to the Charcadet Adrasteos from the city of Kharisma. Iknaeia was immediately pleased with his decision and tried to befriend the other Charcadet prior to their departure.

Iknaeia's plan was to visit the far-off Kala Island and make contact with the Global Communications Setup Foundation of Ethovalon. They made it plain that he did not want to reveal their noble status immediately as they would prefer the chance to live a relatively mundane life until the day he completes his work and/or he's called back home. Such a task would require the two Charcadets to blend in and adapt to the customs of their new location. With no objections from Adrasteos, the two set out and sailed for weeks until they reached the other side of the world.

There, in Ethovalon, did they establish their own team -- Team Aeviternity.

Relations

Adrasteos Co-leader

Iknaeia met Adrasteos only once, but the impression that the boy left on him captivated him. Now, Adrasteos is officially Iknaeia's bodyguard and co-leader, but he is also they're closest friend since leaving home. The two are rather close.

Oberon Close friend

Iknaeia met Oberon when the two of them attended college in Daimoneon together. They grew close over their shared interests in the fine arts, and Iknaeia still considers him to be a good friend even after years apart following their graduation.

Titania Teammate

Iknaeia was the first to suggest to Titania that they join his team in order to work off the debt they had accrued with the port of Ethovalon alongside Oberon. Though Titania still acts rude and standoffish around him and the rest of the team, Iknaeia wishes to get to know them better to be a point of comfort rather than disdain.
