Totoron

The Totoro inspiration wasn’t intentional but I thought of the name first and then it helped me out with the poncho design lol. I really didn’t. He might get a bird theme, maybe I’ll change the poncho design to a geometric eagle eventually. I’ve been thinking of him having a kaleidoscope theme too with his staff. Colors also aren’t likely final

He wood carves, made his magic staff himself. He comes from a family of shepherds but the seasons have been rough and he grew up poor. His poncho is made of sheep wool. He’s not a magical prodigy by any means, but he is self-taught and easily learned a variety of spells. He made his staff after getting a decent level when he was 13. He still regularly carves his staff, always adding more and more details.

He’s a corpse retriever, aka he and his party go into the dungeons looking for people to revive or bring back to a reviver in exchange for money. His party has some shady practices, mostly due to the leader. Work is work and altruism gets in the way of a day’s pay. He’s the party’s resurrector, so once he’s out of mana for they start carrying people back up instead.
Due to being a halfling, his mana pool is very limited and he can only do 2 spells a day on average, and straining himself on this can get him very sick (which makes him a nuisance rather than an help if he tries too hard).

He’s reserved and insecure, and tends to look standoffish to an outside perspective. He has anxiety. I want to give him POTS but walking around is like the name of his job so I’ll do some more research first
