Physical Appearance: A very old and weathered looking person. She’s very thin and frail. Despite this, she’d be considered very pretty. Her fur is very neat and clean, and her feathers are always properly preened. She most closely resembles an Oriental Shorthair Cat.

Clothing: Oasis pretty much always wears this exact outfit, considering she doesn’t own any other clothes and can’t really create more

Expressions: Sad, tired, concerned, weary

Personality

Likes: Sleeping, helping others, cats, reading, music

Dislikes: Death, swearing, evil beings, being worshipped, jackals

Fears/Phobias:
Being overthrown, leaving the afterlife

Oasis is a very kind and empathetic person. She cares deeply about each and every soul and, if it were up to her, no one would ever have to suffer. That being said, her empathy has brought on many undesirable consequences. Her mental state is a trainwreck. It’s not uncommon for her to dissociate or have a complete mental breakdown. When these things happen, the only person that can snap her out of it is the Afterlife’s second in command, Sandra. During her breakdowns, she typically stutters and repeats words over and over.

Oasis believes her goal as a god is to help alleviate the suffering of the living and make their stay in the afterlife pleasant. She hates seeing mortals suffer, and will usually do whatever she can to help a soul in need, even if it’s detrimental to herself. Because she can’t interact with the living world, she’s ended up as the therapist/counselor for tortured souls.

Generally speaking, Oasis is a pessimist. She tries her best to stay positive, but that can be difficult for someone in her situation. Constantly being told tales of death and despair paired with the fact she’s powerless to prevent any of these things from happening again make it really hard to stay positive. Still, she’s good at putting on a cherry facade so as to not make anyone else worry.

Abilities

Strengths: Blue magic, empathy

Weaknesses: Weak mental status

Weapons/Tools: Mace, lute

Oasis is the source of blue magic, creator of the Afterlife, and bringer of life. Her being seemingly powers the Afterlife, like a battery. Without her magic, the Afterlife would cease to exist. Her job is to keep the balance; make sure enough souls are getting reincarnated to keep up with the living population’s demand. She can easily create new souls, but she can’t destroy them. If necessary she’s also able to control a soul, as long as it’s not in a mortal body.

One of her main abilities is the power of foresight. Oasis is able to use her magic to look into the future. These futures can be from any perspective/point of view. The main problem with this power is the future is not set in stone. Instead of seeing one future, she’s able to see every possible future. Over the years she’s trained herself to narrow her visions down and only see the most likely outcomes, but even then it’s not always accurate.

Other minor abilities include the power of flight, even without the use of her wings. She’s able to light up dark areas using her magic. She could also heal someone’s injuries and remove curses, although this aspect of her power is never used by her directly as she can’t interact with the living world under normal circumstances.

Backstory

Oasis was born in what’s now considered to be ancient Vertgate, although back then it went by a different name. She lived in a small village populated mainly with lower purity beings, many of those being other Kodin. Most days, all the children of the village would band together and play, while the adults were busy hunting or farming.

Life back then was difficult, and many of the village's children didn’t make it into adulthood for one reason or another. Oasis was forced to learn about and cope with death from a very early age. Water was scarce, which made people desperate for survival. Many of the adults in the village were struggling to keep themselves alive, let alone their children.

Her friend group would only continue to get smaller as time went on, but those who remained became closer and closer. One of her best friends was a Kodin boy named Sebastian. He was very playful and charming. Sebastian would often do things to entertain the group, but no one else seemed to be as close to him as Oasis was. In fact, while the rest of the group got closer over the years, they seemed to be pushing him away.

The bond between Oasis and Sebastian was nearly unbreakable. She’d often help him with chores or tasks. He always seemed to need help with something, and the other kids in the group never seemed to lend a helping hand. Their treatment of her best friend would make her upset every now and then, and it wasn’t uncommon for her to lecture the rest of the group for their actions.

One day, when they were in their late teens, the small group of friends was out exploring the outskirts of the village. Sebastian had spotted a strange glowing object off in the distance while working the fields, and he really wanted to figure out what it was. So, he had Oasis rally everyone together and they all set off to solve this mystery.

It was about an hour of walking. Many of the group members were starting to get uneasy. Most of them had never strayed this far from the village, and many had concerns. The desert was full of dangerous creatures; ones they didn’t want to encounter. Still, Sebastian insisted and Oasis trusted him. Plus, they could all see the bright blue and red glow in the distance.

Finally, the group reached a cave. Something inside of this cave was obviously the source of these lights, so everyone made their way inside. At the base of the cave, about 25 feet down, there were two enormous glowing rocks. The sight was incredible! The two rocks each glimmered with a beautiful vibrant glow, causing the surrounding rocks to reflect their colours. No one had ever seen anything like it before.

Being the boldest of the group, Sebastian hopped down and marched right up to the rocks to investigate. Some of the others followed, Oasis included, but the majority of the group remained at the surface to watch from above. They didn’t want to risk getting trapped down there.

The blue rock was quite alluring to Oasis. Blue was her favourite colour after all, and this rock gleamed with an intensity she’d never seen before. Cautiously, she reached her hand out and touched the rock. A brief wave of energy filled her body, and the rock stopped glowing. The cave was now filled with only the light of the red rock, making the area seem much darker and foreboding.

Everyone took a step back when Oasis touched the rock. Well, everyone except Sebastian. These rocks seemed like a lot of fun, and he wanted to see if he could get the other one to stop glowing as well. Just like before, the second he touched the rock it stopped glowing. The small group was now left in complete darkness.

Seeing as they had accomplished their goal, there was nothing left to do in the cave. One by one everyone climbed up and made their way out. Soon the group was headed back home to their village.

On the way back, Oasis felt the eerie feeling of something watching her. A few of the others felt this as well. The group briefly stopped to take a look around; and that’s when they were attacked. Out of nowhere, a large group of jackals ran out from behind the rocks and began to chase everyone. The group was immediately thrown into a panic, and everyone scattered.

Oasis had never been athletically inclined. That, paired uneven rocky terrain, made it difficult to keep up with everyone. One of the jackals caught her dress, causing her to fall down. Immediately afterwards, it grabbed ahold of her leg and clamped it’s jaws down with all it’s might. She didn’t have the chance to get back up before the rest of the pack got to her. There was nothing Oasis could do besides cry for help. Someone. Anyone. She continued to cry out as the jackals tore into her, ripping out chunks of fur and flesh.

Seeing Oasis go down only made the rest of the group run faster. As much as they cared about her, they didn’t want to put their own lives at risk. Even if they did save her, they all knew she’d just die from her injuries anyway. Everyone ran, except for one. Sebastian.

Hearing her cries for help made him stop briefly. He turned his head to look at her, and for a brief moment Oasis was confident he’d turn to save her. He didn’t. Instead, he just scoffed and continued running. Oasis was sure she could see a brief glint of red in his eyes before he ran. Suddenly, one of the jackals bit down on Oasis’ neck, and everything began to fade.

After an indeterminate amount of time, Oasis woke up. Surprisingly, she felt good. There was a pleasant warmth surrounding her, and the ground felt soft and soothing. But, where was she? Looking around, Oasis could see nothing but blue skies and a white misty terrain. No one else was around either. None of her friends, no one from the village, not even the jackals.

As she stood up to look around, Oasis noticed something else. She seemed to be wearing an entirely different outfit than she had been. Before, she was dressed in a simple white dress with a golden trim. The dress she had on now was still white, but now it had blue stripes going down the side. It also had a decorative gold, blue, and red front piece, as well as a couple of belts holding everything up.

When she looked down to examine herself, something else began to phase into existence. A bright blue light shone on her chest, and when the light subsided there was a golden pendant pinned in its place.

While all of this was quite strange, none of it mattered to her. All she cared about was getting back to the village and making sure her friends were ok. The only problem was, she had absolutely no idea where she was. She wandered the seemingly endless terrain for hours to no avail. No matter where she went, it was all the same. Just blue skies and misty terrain. She was lost, alone, and scared.

Her fear only got worse from there. She needed to get home! She needed to know if her friends were ok! What happened to her didn’t matter anymore, all she cared about was her friends safety. As she continued to worry, something strange began to happen.

Suddenly, she was somewhere else. Off in the distance, she could see her small group of friends. They seemed to be running towards the village. She desperately wanted to run towards them; tell them she was ok, and make sure everyone got out unscathed. Try as she might, Oasis found herself unable to move. It felt as if she was walking, but she didn’t seem to be going anywhere.

As soon as the vision appeared, it faded. Oasis found herself in the misty plane yet again, aimlessly walking around. The sudden shift was a bit disorientating, and she began to feel a bit dizzy. She decided it’d be best to sit down and rest for a while.

Another vision soon appeared. She seemed to be back in the village with the rest of the group. They were all catching their breath and talking amongst themselves. One of the older kids in the group began to yell at Sebastian. He was mad that he dared lead them to such a dangerous area. Some of the others in the group agreed, and soon everyone had banded against him. Oasis tried to interject. She tried to tell them this wasn’t his fault, but her voice went unheard. It was as if she wasn’t even there.

Yet again, the vision faded and Oasis was left all alone. All of this was extremely confusing. Especially what her friends had been yelling about. They mentioned that she was dead, but that obviously wasn’t the case. She was still very much alive. If she wasn’t, how could she be watching all of this unfold?

Death. She couldn’t shake the thought from her head. There was no way she was dead. The jackals had simply knocked her out and dragged her away. Still, the more she thought about what they said the more she questioned herself. She had to figure out what had happened. She’d go crazy if she didn’t. That’s when she saw it. It was another one of her visions, but this time it was much more gruesome.

Laying on the ground beneath her was a white Kodin, wearing a white dress with a gold trim. It was… Her. There was no mistaking it. Her white fur was stained red with blood, as the jackals tore away her clothes and began eating her flesh. It was a horrid sight! She wanted it to stop, and she wanted it to stop right now. The vision did not stop, not for a few moments longer. A few moments too many.

All of this was too much. Oasis couldn’t help but cry. Her friends thought she was dead, and at this point even she was beginning to question herself. Was she dead? Was all this a hallucination? There was no way to tell. Her body felt weightless, and the ground around her looked too whimsical to be real. She needed something, anything, to prove she was still alive. Or at least, something to prove to herself that she still existed.

Just as she was about to admit defeat, one last vision came to her. This vision showed her in a place, with terrain much like where she was now, only it was bustling with life. People and animals of all kinds. Some were chatting, others were playing together. A few were sleeping on the white fluffy ground. In the distance Oasis could see brilliant blue trees and shrubs protruding from the misty ground. There were glowing blue rocks creating pathways from place to place. Beyond there, she could see enormous pools of water, all of which were a similar blue to everything else. There were even a few small buildings, lined with blue and gold. It was breathtaking!

The vision faded, and she was once again left alone in this vast empty plane. Unlike the visions before, this one filled her with hope. She couldn’t explain it, but something deep down told her that this place would one day become real. It wasn’t real yet, but she felt as if she could make it happen; she just didn’t know how.

Oasis was alone for a very long time. It seemed as if years had gone by, but there was no real way to tell. During her time alone, she began to question her sanity. There was still no “proof” she was alive. Whenever she began to have these thoughts, she’d always grab her golden pendant and gaze into her reflection. While it didn’t prove she was alive, seeing her reflection gave her the peace of mind knowing she at least still existed in some way.

As time went on, Oasis started to learn more about this place and her abilities. Being alone for so long gives you a lot of time to think. She figured out that the visions she had seen weren’t her being teleported around. Instead, they were visions of the future.

In addition to seeing the future, Oasis also figured out a way to look down on the living world. Her foresight allowed her to more or less “experience” the living world. Visions of the future often brought her perspective back down to the ground level, although she was unable to talk or interact with anything. At least she could see how society was progressing and, more importantly, how her village was doing.

Perhaps getting so close wasn’t the best idea. As time went on, Oasis began to see less and less mortals in her small window to the world. Villages began dying off. Packs of animals ceased to exist. Some animals seemingly disappeared entirely! Even her own village's population seemed to be dwindling. It was all very concerning.

Oasis wanted to know why this was happening, but without a way to get back to what was once her world, things seemed hopeless. She couldn’t talk to anyone, so she’d only get vague pieces of information, often without any context. The only thing she could figure out from her foresight was that people were dying, and no new children were being born to replace them. This was causing species to go extinct.

There had to be some way to stop this! As time went on her vision, the vision of the Afterlife’s future, began to fade. It was becoming harder and harder to see with each passing day. If she didn’t fix what was going on in her homeworld, all would be lost. But what could she do? It didn’t seem like there was anything she could do!

If only she had someone around to help her. She desperately needed a fresh set of eyes to look at the task at hand. A new perspective may offer insightful information. Still, this didn’t seem like a feasible option. She couldn’t interact with anyone in the living world, and there was no one on this plane of existence except her. She had hit a dead end.

Forty years had passed since Oasis’ ascension. The bright future she had once seen had since been all but replaced by a very bleak view of the world. Most of her visions showed Mirror Domain, devoid of any life. There was nothing. No plants, no animals, and no people. Just an empty wasteland. The little hope she had for the living world was long gone now. Soon, all that would be left was her and her power. So, she gave up on solving this “great dying”. Instead, she shifted her attention to honing in on her abilities. She may as well do something other than watch in silence as the world falls apart.

One day, about forty five years in, Oasis made a huge discovery about her powers. You see, her magic seemed to be in an endless supply, so Oasis spent a lot of time just “seeing what would happen” when she released a large amount of it at once. On this day, instead of letting her magic flow freely, she condensed a large amount of it into a very small space.

What she was left with was… An odd amorphous wisp of blue magic. Unlike the rest of her magic, however, Oasis no longer seemed to be in control of this wisp. It took an enormous amount of energy to “regain” control, and even then the most she could do was make it stop moving. Almost as soon as the wisp appeared, it was sucked down through the floor. As it disappeared into the mist, Oasis was almost certain she saw the silhouette of a humanoid being.

That’s when it hit her. Another vision of the future, only this time it was largely unintentional, as if her powers were trying to tell her something. It was the same future she had seen several times before; the one with plants and animals, and the pools of water with the houses lined in blue and gold. She hadn’t seen this vision in years, but somehow it was back.

She didn’t know why, but somehow creating this wisp of magic brought back the future she longed for. While it was heavily faded, it was there. It seemed like her creating this wisp was somehow directly tied to her vision. So, she began to create more. With every new wisp sent down, the future she envisioned grew stronger. Oasis had absolutely no clue what she was doing, but it seemed to be working.

As she created more of these wisps, Oasis noticed something strange begin to happen. Despite the fact she was using enormous amounts of magic, she felt more powerful than ever before! Suddenly, her body began to glow with a bright blue light. An explosion of energy radiated outwards, shaking the ground around her. When this stopped, Oasis was left in a new form, with a few new objects on the ground around her.

A brilliant golden halo now hung above her head, seeming to follow her around. She also now had an enormous pair of feathery wings on her back. These wings seemed more like a status symbol rather than something practical, as she could already float around this realm freely. At her feet were hundreds of tiny plant sprouts that seemed to be growing rapidly.

There were also two objects of interest. A mace, made of a beautiful white and gold material that Oasis had never seen before. It was lined with blue gemstones, and it had intricate carvings and patterns lining it. There was also an instrument of some sort, similar to a lute. This was made of the same material. Both of these also seemed to be a symbol of status, much like her wings and halo.

One day, many years after Oasis had gained these new features, something very peculiar happened. Off in the distance was a brief flash of blue, and Oasis could see something in its place as it faded. It almost looked like another person, but that was impossible! She had been the only being here for nearly a hundred years, how could someone else get here?

Quickly, she made her way over to this being. Sure enough, it was a human. They seemed awfully confused, so Oasis sat down with them and tried to talk everything through. From what she gathered, this person was out working the mines a few moments ago. The ground started shaking, and suddenly they were here.

This situation seemed very similar to the one Oasis had once been in, many years ago. She was sure this person was dead, but bringing that up only seemed to cause them to panic. They couldn’t be dead, they were standing right here! Still, this was almost certain. Even Oasis’ foresight confirmed it. This person had died, and now they were here.

Over the years, more and more creatures began to show up. Not just people, but animals too. The mortals began to refer to the place they were at as “the Afterlife”, because they still seemed to be alive in some way, even after their death. They also began looking up to Oasis as their leader. Many called her a God.

Oasis knew what a God was. Her village had a few that people would talk about from time to time, but she never thought they were actually real. Still, the label seemed to fit her rather well, even if it did make her a bit uncomfortable. She went from being all alone, to being in a huge position of power with countless souls under her responsibility! It was a lot to take in.

Soon, there were too many souls. At least, too many for her to handle. All of this responsibility was too much, and she needed a way to take control of the situation. All these souls of varying backgrounds began to have conflict. They were bored. They were angry. They didn’t want to accept the fact they had died, and they didn’t want to be stuck in this void for the rest of eternity. Many of them demanded that Oasis do something about it, but what could she possibly do?

That’s when it finally hit her. These people, they were connected to the wisps of magic she had been creating. They didn’t start showing up until after she created them, and her creating them was what had made her coveted future possible. Had she been creating life? Souls? It seemed more than plausible, especially considering she was now a god.

If the souls she had created could be sent down to the living world once, who says they can’t be sent down again? It made sense, at least to her, but finding a willing volunteer proved to be difficult. In the end, Oasis decided it would be easier to just go ahead with her plan anyway, regardless of whether she got a volunteer or not. She didn’t want to “kill” anyone, but she had to use a pre-existing soul for this experiment.

Oasis focused her energy on the living world, searching for some kind of “opening”. A portal perhaps. Some way for a soul to leave the Afterlife. It didn’t take long. Soon after she began, a small glimpse into the living world appeared. A small pool of water appeared at her feet as she continued to focus her magic. The pool grew, and looking down into it she could see apparitions of living beings.

Touching these pools did nothing, at least not when Oasis did it. When she touched the water, it acted as solid ground. But, when she got a soul to enter the pool, they were immediately sucked under. Minutes passed, and the soul didn’t resurface. Oasis was starting to get worried, so she once again used her foresight to see what was going on.

That’s how Oasis learned about reincarnation. When a soul enters one of these pools, they’re sucked down to the living world and “recycled” into something new. The new body will then continue on with the life cycle, until one day it returns to the Afterlife. This was perfect! Oasis now had a way to reduce the population of the Afterlife, at least temporarily. Doing so would allow her to solve the Afterlife’s problems with less stress, and focus more on individuals rather than an army of people.

More time passed, and with time arose more problems. Many new souls wanted to find their friends and family, but were seemingly unable to. Everyone that had ever lived wound up in the afterlife. Naturally, that’d make it extremely difficult to find one person. She had no real way of keeping track of everyone, and this was starting to become problematic.

So, Oasis began working on what would later become the Hall of Records. She began having souls write down their life events, and then she’d have them put these documents in a designated area. Because keeping track of souls was her main problem as of right then, she decided to make documenting one’s life a requirement before they could reincarnate. Her magic made it quite literally impossible to re-enter the living world once she put this rule in place.

The Hall of Records was by no means perfect. Not everyone operates under the same moral standards as Oasis, and every now and then someone would sneak in and vandalize the place, leaving Oasis to deal with the aftermath. She needed a way to regulate who could and couldn’t enter, but she had so many other problems to deal with that she simply couldn’t do it on her own.

On top of the Hall or Records being vandalized, there were also the issues of Afterlife politics. Souls were unhappy. People were getting into fights and starting riots. Some souls were too traumatized from their short stay in the living world that they didn’t want to go back. So many problems, and only one person who could fix them all. It was overwhelming.

As time went on, Oasis found solutions to some of these problems. She’d taken to counseling the more troubled souls in hopes of getting them to reincarnate once again. It started as a way for her to temporarily rid the Afterlife of troublemakers, but she genuinely enjoyed helping these souls solve their problems. She’d always enjoyed helping others, even before her ascension. Still, while many problems were getting solved, more only arose to take their place.

All of this responsibility was taxing on Oasis’ mental state. The endless stories of souls gruesomely dying made her depressed. The constant solving of problems and the general upkeep of the Afterlife proven to be too much at times. Oasis began to dissociate or, sometimes, even have full on breakdowns. The souls that once viewed her as a benevolent and omniscient being were beginning to see her for what she truly was; an unqualified being who had just as little clue as to what she was doing as everyone else. Because she was still a god, most souls just changed what their definition of “god” was and moved on. Others began to look down on her. This only added to her stress.

As the years went on, people started understanding the general routine of the afterlife. Sure, new souls would need guidance, but after while Oasis didn’t feel the need to create any new ones. There were enough souls in circulation to meet the quota of the living world and then some. Generally speaking, souls knew enough about the way things were to take care of themselves. All Oasis had to do was oversee things and help those with legitimate problems. Sure, things weren’t perfect, but they worked well enough to keep the Afterlife running.

That being said, everything changed upon Sandra’s arrival. Sandra entered the afterlife under very unusual circumstances, and right from the beginning Oasis knew there was something wrong with her. Her body radiated a powerful aura, much like Oasis’, only Sandra’s aura was much more foreboding. Just getting close to her was unnerving, even if she wasn’t doing anything.

This soul had an odd fascination with Oasis, and she would often follow her around like a shadow. Always right behind her. On the rare occasion Sandra would speak, it was always about how she “didn’t know others like her existed” and that she was a “weak willed being, unfit for godhood”. She’d never answer any of Oasis’ questions or respond in any meaningful way. Oasis didn’t even know her name at this point.

At first Oasis thought Sandra was just a bit eccentric. The living world had changed over the past few thousand years, of course mortals behaviour would change as well. Still, there was something wrong with this soul. Oasis knew that for sure. Sandra’s aura arose her suspicion, but it’s not what finally tipped her off to what was happening.

The main thing that tipped Oasis off was her speaking mannerisms. Sandra would never say “I”, “my”, or “me”. It was always “we”, “our”, or “us”. She also would constantly mention “Our Lord”, and how he didn’t like Oasis. It was almost as if Sandra wasn’t in control of her own actions, and instead was a puppet for someone else.

Who this person was Oasis didn’t know. What she did know, however, was that the magic Sandra had radiating throughout her body was too dangerous to be allowed in the Afterlife. Mortals didn’t seem to know of the Afterlife’s existence, and many souls had expressed their concerns about this information getting out. If the living knew about life after death, the world would be thrown into ruin. Mortals would be far more reckless, seeing as they’d know they’d never truly “die”.

There was a possibility that Sandra being under someone else's control would leak this information, and Oasis needed to put a stop to it. On top of that, this was the first time she had encountered any magic other than her own, let alone magic that could rival her’s. The individual controlling Sandra must have had a lot of power, and someone with such abilities could be extremely dangerous.

So, Oasis sought out to free Sandra’s soul. While the magic controlling her was extremely powerful, Oasis had the advantage. Her entire domain was filled to the brim with blue magic, her magic. Yes, this “red magic” was extremely powerful, but Oasis had far more blue magic at her disposal. Her idea was to overwhelm this red magic with her own, in hopes of driving it away. A normal soul can’t withstand so much magic, so Oasis assumed that her blue magic would replace the red.

In a secluded and barren part of the Afterlife, Oasis began channeling her power into Sandra’s body. As more blue magic entered, the red glow grew brighter. It felt as if whoever was in control of the red magic was also trying their best to keep Sandra under their control. Still, she pushed on, and Sandra began to absorb more and more magic.

Suddenly, Sandra’s body began to glow a bright green. The light was so powerful that even Oasis had to shield her eyes. Almost immediately after the green light appeared, a powerful shockwave of energy exploded from within Sandra. It was so powerful that the ground began to shake and the energy dispersed. The bright light persisted for several seconds, before slowly fading away.

When the light faded, Oasis was left with an unbelievable sight. Laying on the ground was Sandra, but she looked different from before. Much like Oasis, there was now a shiny golden halo hanging over her head. The red markings she had once had had faded away, being replaced with a more natural looking tan. Her eyes had also changed colour, going from red to blue.

Slowly, Sandra got up and looked around. She had absolutely no idea where she was or how she’d gotten there. It seemed like everything that had happened since her arrival had been forgotten. She couldn’t seem to remember any of her past lives either, although there was a small chance she hadn’t had any. Still, this was all deeply concerning.

Considering Sandra had no clue what was going on, Oasis brought her to the Hall of Records and walked her through the standard procedure. Even her voice had changed, and that became clear to Oasis as Sandra complained about the state of the Hall of Records. Yes, it was a mess, but it was the best she could do given the circumstance. Either way, this shouldn’t be the pair's main concern.

Eventually Sandra’s paperwork was in order, so Oasis talked her through the reincarnation process and brought her over to one of the pools. Sandra seemed to want to go back down. Still, when she tried to step into the pool she found herself unable to. Much like Oasis, the pools of water acted as solid ground. This had never happened to anyone else before.

Talk of a “new god” quickly spread throughout the Afterlife as Oasis and Sandra tried to figure out what was going on. No one had ever seen someone else with a halo before, so naturally they’d assume Sandra was a god as well. But, that couldn’t be the case, could it? Oasis was the only god to her knowledge, but what if there was another?

In times of confusion like this, Oasis had always turned to her foresight. She hadn’t foreseen Sandra’s arrival, and since she’d entered the Afterlife Oasis was more concerned on freeing her soul rather than what would happen in the future. Now seemed like a good time to get herself up to speed in things; figure out what would happen in the coming days.

Oasis needed space in order to use her powers. Souls trying to interact with her would break her concentration, making it harder to see a specific chain of events. During the coming months, Oasis was largely removed from the general population of the afterlife. This is when Sandra really began to take charge.

Sandra quickly came to the realisation that Oasis was somewhat incompitant. Well, maybe not incompitant, but she definitely didn’t have things under control up here. The Hall of Records especially pissed her off. As Oasis was off searching for answers, Sandra got her permission to take charge of some things; and take charge she did. Sandra whipped the afterlife back into shape with Oasis’ help. Things became much more organised and streamlinem, and the two Gods had an actual schedule and assigned duties now. Still, while Oasis appreciated all Sandra’s help, there was a more pressing matter in the works. A new vision was becoming more and more common, and this vision wasn’t pretty.

In this vision she saw another Kodin, similar to herself in terms of power. He was monstrous and demonic looking, and he had broken into the Afterlife with the intention of taking it over. This Kodin looked strangely familiar, but Oasis couldn’t quite put her finger on why.

The first part of the vision was more or less the same, but the second half seemed to change every time. Sometimes she’d chase him out of her domain, only for him to return another day. Sometimes he’d overpower her and wreak havoc on the Afterlife. None of these options were viable in her eyes, though. This other “god” was too dangerous to be allowed to roam free, but from what she saw their powers were evenly matched. She wouldn’t be able to drive out his magic the same way she had with Sandra.

There had to be some other way to defeat him, but she was rapidly running out of time to figure one out. Her visions showed this event happening anywhere within the next few hours to the next few days. He’d be here within the week, and Oasis wasn’t prepared. Not knowing what else to do, she finally confessed to Sandra what was going on. Sandra had been a huge help in recent months, surly she’d be able to come up with something.

The two spent the next few days planning. Killing this intruder didn’t seem like a viable option, as he and Oasis’ powers seemed to be evenly matched. Still, Sandra was confident Oasis had the upper hand. This was her domain, her realm. Her power was flowing through everything and everyone here. If the intruder couldn’t be killed, perhaps he could be contained.

With the help of Sandra, Oasis used her magic to create a powerful pair of manacles. These manacles were designed to channel blue magic, that blue magic coming from the purest source possible; Oasis’ blood. Sure, they’d need to be supplied with more magic every now and then, but this seemed like the most viable option. That, and they had run out of time to figure anything else out. Mere hours after they finished crafting this relic, he arrived.

He called himself DC. A god of chaos and destruction. He was the one who’d been controlling Sandra; using her body as a puppet to sneak a peek into this unknown realm. Oasis being considered a god seemed to anger him. In his words: A god should be worshipped. They should have power over mortals, take control over their weak wills. The fact that mortals didn’t know who Oasis was made her weak and pathetic.

While Oasis was confronting DC, Sandra was doing her best to keep the other souls away. Oasis didn’t want to cause a panic, and she knew this would wreak havoc on the Afterlife if word ever got out. This problem was to be dealt with promptly, before anyone else saw.

Oasis took this battle extremely seriously. This was the first and only attack against the Afterlife that had ever happened, and she was determined to protect her domain. Without her, the balance of the living world would be disrupted once again. She didn’t want another mass extinction to happen, or worse.

While Oasis was treating this as a serious matter, DC seemed to be treating the whole thing as a game. He was suave, and he constantly taunted Oasis throughout the fight. Many of his insults cut pretty deep, but she didn’t let this dissuade her. Still, as hurtful as these infults were, his playful nature seemed oddly familiar.

The ground shook as the two Gods continued their battle. Souls could see the flashes of red and blue light off in the distance, but none dared to check it out for themselves. Panic was beginning to rise, but Sandra did her best to keep things under control.

Eventually, Oasis could tell she was wearing DC down. Yes, she was beginning to get tired as well, but she had a determination that DC seemed to lack. Still, he was beginning to realise that this battle wasn’t a game, and Oasis knew it. His taunts stopped, and his attacks began to get more relentless. He was starting to do things that seemed to hurt himself as well as he slowly began to lose his cool. This was her chance, she had to chain him now.

DC shot one final blast of magic at Oasis, and she fell to the ground. Instead of getting back up, she waited for DC to come closer. Let him think he had won, and jump him at the last second. Her plan worked perfectly. He never saw what hit him.

As the manacled clicked into place, DC began to panic. She could see it in his eyes. The more he panicked, the more irrational he became. He stopped focusing on attacking Oasis, and instead began to claw at the manacles around his neck trying to get it off. It seemed as if he’d rather claw his own head off than be detained like this. Eventually his own injuries proved to be too much, and DC slipped unconscious.

Now that he was out, Oasis could get a better look at him, as well as take him away to somewhere no one would see him. He looked so familiar. Too familiar. Even with his demonic looking traits and his vast amount of injuries, Oasis was almost certain she’d met him before. But when? Meeting Sandra was the first time she’d ever encountered him and his magic.

No, there was another time. Centuries ago, back when she was still mortal. It was all coming back to her now. Red and blue magic, just like the rocks she had seen in the cave the day she was killed. That rock must have been the source of her power. But there was another rock, and another Kodin there that day. Sebastian. There was no doubt in Oasis’ mind that this was him. This broke Oasis. They had been such close friends as kids, and now look at him. He was a monster.

Oasis took DC to a far off area of the afterlife, somewhere that hadn’t been colonized yet. She used her magic to create a barrier around the area, preventing anyone but her and Sandra from entering, and preventing DC from exiting. Then, to ensure no one would stumble across him, Oasis carved her way into the floor of the Afterlife and created an underground cell for DC to be caged in. It was the only jail in the entirety of the Afterlife.

Life continued on for the Gods. Oasis and Sandra very quickly set up a new routine to include neutralizing DC. On top of this, Oasis set aside time each week to talk with him. She wanted to know why he did the things he did and, hopefully, make him see the error of his ways. Oasis believed anyone could find redemption, and she was determined to “reform” DC.

And that’s about it for the time being. Present day, Oasis continues her duties as a god; keeping the balance in the living world and counselling damaged souls. Her foresight has alluded to disastrous events to come, but those aren’t of any concern to anyone at the moment. For now, Oasis lives a peaceful life in her domain, with her dear friend Sandra at her side. That’s all she could ever ask for.

DC

At one point Sebastian was her closest and most trusted friend. Now that he’s ascended, changing his name to DC, Oasis isn’t sure how to feel about him. He’s the only person left from her past, and she desperately wants him to somehow go back to the way he was. She’s tricked herself into believing he can be redeemed, and she’ll do whatever it takes to make that happen.
With that said, Oasis isn’t stupid. She knows he’s evil and dangerous, and she knows he’ll wreak havoc on the living world if he’s ever let go. His cruel taunts and insults really cut deep, and a lot of the times Oasis can’t handle it. Still, she has to visit him weekly at the least, otherwise his manacles won’t get refilled with blue magic and he’ll escape.
While Oasis doesn’t condone any of DC’s actions, she has an odd fascination with them. Being “evil” doesn’t come naturally to her, and some of the things he’s able to come up with on such short notice really hit her out of left field. In a strange and messed up way, he’s a genius, and Oasis wishes she could think on her feet as well as he can.

Sandra

Oasis’ closest and most trusted friend. She hasn’t had anyone permanent in her life for centuries, so having Sandra around is a nice change of pace. Because of her, Oasis’ mental state has greatly improved, as well as the overall state of the Afterlife. Everything’s gotten better for Oasis since Sandra arrived.
Sandra’s moral code is vastly different from her own, and Oasis knows it. She does her best to put up with Sandra’s colourful language and her deadpan tone of voice, but sometimes it’s a bit too much. Every now and then she’ll lecture Sandra on her words or actions, but she keeps these lectures to a minimum for fear of accidentally ruining their relationship.
Some might call Oasis a bit too dependent on Sandra. She’s the only one who’s able to snap her out of her breakdowns, and that’s proved to be problematic in the past. When things get rough, she’ll cling to Sandra’s side and won’t leave her alone until Sandra either forces her away or the problem subsides. Oasis doesn’t want a codependent relationship, so she’s been trying her best to give Sandra more space, even if it’s difficult.

Trivia

Creation date: 2009

Alignment: Lawful Good

Voice Claim: None

Other: Oasis is the oldest character I have that I still currently use. Originally, she was a Warrior Cats fan character who ruled over Starclan, only I had never read any of the Warrior Cats books so my view on the series/fandom was just an excuse to make a million cat OCs. Over the years, she evolved into the character she is today.
