Oasis's Links
At one point Sebastian was her closest and most trusted friend. Now that he’s ascended, changing his name to DC, Oasis isn’t sure how to feel about him. He’s the only person left from her past, and she desperately wants him to somehow go back to the way he was. She’s tricked herself into believing he can be redeemed, and she’ll do whatever it takes to make that happen.
With that said, Oasis isn’t stupid. She knows he’s evil and dangerous, and she knows he’ll wreak havoc on the living world if he’s ever let go. His cruel taunts and insults really cut deep, and a lot of the times Oasis can’t handle it. Still, she has to visit him weekly at the least, otherwise his manacles won’t get refilled with blue magic and he’ll escape.
While Oasis doesn’t condone any of DC’s actions, she has an odd fascination with them. Being “evil” doesn’t come naturally to her, and some of the things he’s able to come up with on such short notice really hit her out of left field. In a strange and messed up way, he’s a genius, and Oasis wishes she could think on her feet as well as he can.
DC has a very odd view on Oasis. On one hand, she’s his true rival. Her magic is as powerful as his in every way, making her the only one worthy to be his adversary. On the other hand, Oasis is a lowly, pathetic, weak willed being who’s largely unfit for godhood. Her being a god is insulting to his title, and he hates his kind being brought down by the lines of her.
While he does hate her with every fiber of his being, he does enjoy her company. Perhaps it’s some sort of weird Stockholm syndrome, but DC finds wisdom in some of the things she’s told him during their counselling sessions. That being said, the wisdom he gains from Oasis is never how she intended for her words to be interpreted. He always finds some way to spin her words into a dark and twisted manner.
DC enjoys taunting Oasis and messing with her mind. He finds her weak mental state both fascinating and hilarious. Any day he’s able to send her into a full blown mental breakdown is a good day. Still, DC’s content with just making her mildly uncomfortable. Any discomfort or distress he causes her is a win in his book.
Oasis’ closest and most trusted friend. She hasn’t had anyone permanent in her life for centuries, so having Sandra around is a nice change of pace. Because of her, Oasis’ mental state has greatly improved, as well as the overall state of the Afterlife. Everything’s gotten better for Oasis since Sandra arrived.
Sandra’s moral code is vastly different from her own, and Oasis knows it. She does her best to put up with Sandra’s colourful language and her deadpan tone of voice, but sometimes it’s a bit too much. Every now and then she’ll lecture Sandra on her words or actions, but she keeps these lectures to a minimum for fear of accidentally ruining their relationship.
Some might call Oasis a bit too dependent on Sandra. She’s the only one who’s able to snap her out of her breakdowns, and that’s proved to be problematic in the past. When things get rough, she’ll cling to Sandra’s side and won’t leave her alone until Sandra either forces her away or the problem subsides. Oasis doesn’t want a codependent relationship, so she’s been trying her best to give Sandra more space, even if it’s difficult.
An extremely trusted friend and respected mentor. Sandra looks up to Oasis as a kind, loving, and genuine person. She’s helped Sandra come to terms with some of the mistakes of her past, and she’s grateful for it. Without Oasis, Sandra would be a much colder and crueler god.
That being said, Sandra can’t stand how clingy she can be at times. Oasis is known to have mental breakdowns and panic attacks, and she seemingly can’t be calmed down by anyone except Sandra. Sandra is known to be cold and crass, but she really softens up when Oasis is around. Maybe it’s because she values her friendship, or maybe it’s simply to avoid causing any issues between them
While she would trust Oasis with her life, Sandra also feels the need to keep some things hidden from her. There’s just some things that can’t be done while also keeping to Oasis’ moral code. Sandra always feels bad about going behind her back, but it’s for the good of the Afterlife. They’re both in charge up there, after all.
While he views Oasis as a close friend, despite the one sided nature of their relationship, Meridian doesn’t interact with her often. His magic makes it impossible for him to show up in any of Oasis’ visions of the future, and this seems to cause her a lot of distress. Whenever he wants to interact with her during his loops he has to take great care in how he approaches her, otherwise she’ll freak out. On the rare occasion they do get together, they usually get along. Oasis is a pleasant person to be around, and her glimpses into the future have been a huge help in Meridian’s research.
