Jo-Jo and Midnight are also a duo that are almost always together and even consider one another sisters, almost hip to hip like how Midnight is with Poncho. Also Jo-Jo has no jealousy towards Poncho cause she knows Midnight would never replace her, nor would she want Poncho to feel replaced either. So she just jokingly 3rd wheels, but also gives them alone time.

Jo-Jo being a dragon does still have a tendency to horde what she likes, and one happens to be plushies and toys, which Plush Pup matches perfectly. So the friendship is a mix of her wanting to add Plush Pup to her horde AND acutally enjoying their company when she leaves Midnight alone.
