Kino is a wandering uchikomimi under the ronin samurai named Shiba, Hitokiri of the Phoenix clan. Uchikomimi are not a common occurrence in Rokugan and often seen as monsters or mythical creatures. Thankfully due to the Phoenix clan's acceptance of the unusual and being more open-minded towards mythicism, it wasn't hard for Kino to find his home with Hitokiri. While they traveled along the lands of the Crab clan who were more close-minded, they had to disguise Kino as a fair maiden being escorted across the land which is how his alias as "Shino" became known.
Recently the duo have come to a town high in the mountains where Kino has taken over as the owner of an onsen (hot springs bath house). More to come as to how he came into possession of this facility later...
