  • Name Maeda Shust
  • GenderMale
  • Nationality Heodian (Castlebourg)
  • Age16 years old
  • Birthday 6th of September
  • Occupation Beginner Pokémon Trainer

Maeda is a young runaway, roaming the country to find a sense to his life. Grouchy and reclusive, he chose a rogue life, only accepting the company of his Pokémons, training hard to improve their battle skills, and exploring any area he can find. He is not sure of his goal : beating the league? Maybe. He hopes to find out on his way, while trying to gather some gym badges. But for now, his adventure really just started, thanks to the peculiar Machop that had been offered to him, and his first catch, a shy but friendly Shinx.

Personality

Maeda might seems dull and inactive. He is more of a dream and an observer, preferring to sit as a spectator rather than interacting when he is not asked to do so. Often lost in thoughts, he analyses everything around him, being attentive to every details, being the way light reflects amongst the tall grass, or the way some potential interlocutor's voice vibrates when talking. However, he acts little, often feeling like a stranger to surrounding events, and especially to conversations, and prefers to stay aside, calm and silent. Although not antipathetic, he is not much sociable, preferring the calm of some starry night with the moon as only company, to any social activity. This mostly for he lacks self-confidence, feeling unable to hold a conversation without letting these awkward silences where no one knows what to say go though the flow of it. He would rather listen without having to reply. He also is craintive in front of the unknown, or unknown persons, as he does not know how to face unexpected situations and easily panics in adversity. Despite everything, he is not that hard to tame, as long as you learn to undertand his silent language : like an animal, he talks more with his eyes, gestures and attitudes than he does with his words. Once he is made confident, he might relax a little, and venture to discuss a bit. If you manage to reach the child that lies within, he might act playful and teasing, ready to horse around in the grass like a young pup.

In the end, Maeda is not exactly antisocial, he is only unsure of how to act in society. Having had no affection from his family and having been unable to make any friend, he became cold and distant, while still keeping his heart open to new encounters.

Appearance

Maeda looks like any teenager, growing fast and slowly turning into a mature man. He is still somewhat petite, only being around 160 centimetres tall, and of a thin build, having few muscles but even fewer fat. His legs are somewhat long, accentuating the whole stick-like look of his body, even though he does not look underweight.
His face as nothing special to it neither, being neither pretty nor ugly. He has a somewhat roundish face, a small nose, thin and uncoloured lips, and a pair of dull brown eyes who are not large nor well-shaped enough to catch attention. This basic face is topped by a bunch of light brown hairs that he likes to keep long, but are hardly brushed. He really just looks forgettable, as average as he could be.

Clothing-wise, he especially looks for comfort and practicality, still with a preference for brown or cream-coloured clothes. He likes them with lots of pockets that he usually stuff with some useless things that he wants to keep with him for whatever reason. The only little decorative add-on he wears is a simple black collar.

Story

Maeda was born in the dismal city of Castlebourg, at a fresh autumn morning. He knew a more or less normal childhood, with no notable event, growing within a more or less normal family, raised by a mother that especially deals with grocery shopping, cooking and housework, only giving to his kid the necessary time and attention to fill basic needs, and a father that was mostly absent, as well physically than mentally, spending most of his time out in town without caring much for his family. He also had a five years older sister, who did not care much neither for a brother that was too young to share her hobbies and activities. Thus, Maeda would spend most of his time alone, playing in a small no-through street of the neighbourhood where few people would pass by, having as his only playground some dusty ground surrounded by tall walls of dark bricks that, within his dreamy mind, would become some dangerous and unsustainable arid world that his little wooden heroes would have to confront to resolve some mystery of their mythical destiny. At school, where he would only go from fear of the violent remonstrances of his father whom leather belt would sometimes be the only communication tool, Maeda was only putting in an appearance. He cared little about whatever lesson his teachers tried to pass him, satisfying himself with grades medium enough for him not to repeat a year. He cared no more for his schoolmates, giving attention to only one of them, until some childish argument about some teenager trifle ended this semblance of friendship.

Maeda ended alone for good, but never tried to resolve that issue, and instead chose to try his luck with Pokémons rather that humans. Some morning, has he managed to gather enough money for it, he bought a Pokéball from the local shop and headed to the nearest forest looking for a wild Pokémon to catch. Feeling to connection to bug or grass types, he had his heart set on some Pidgey, a Pokémon admittedly weak and overly common, but who has the potential to evolve into a majestic Pidgeot with whom the young boy could literally fly away from his unloved home. But, needless to say catching a Pokémon is not that easy, and Maeda lamentably failed. His Pokéball being broken, he jumped on the Pokémon trying to catch it bare-hands, but the bird flew away. Further attempts were no more successful. Piqued and resigned, the young boy ended up giving up and going back to town. Not being in the mood to go back home and face the cold and surly faces of what was only named a family, he went to wander randomly in the street, wondering about what he was supposed to do of his dull life. At the corner of an alley, something blue contrasted against the dull and monochromatic background of the dusty city : a young boy, joyful and laughing, was playing with a small large-jawed Pokémon, his scaly bright blue skin shining under the sunlight, enhanced by some pointy red scales. Maeda had never seen such creature before, and found the courage to ask the child where he found it. The kid talked him about the renown professor Bleykasten, a young Pokémon collector and curious explorateur, that was said to be generous enough to offer a Pokémon companion to anyone that would hold the curiosity to learn more about them.

This was the start of a solitary journey. Maeda drop by home quickly, without even looking at his family that did not look at him neither, to pick up some goods that looked useful to him. He left down without a look behind, without even try to organise his trip to a town that he knew nothing about but its name. He was lucky enough to meet a small group of travellers heading toward Hersane that allowed him to follow them, even though he would stay far enough from them not to have to discuss with them. He left them when they passed by Bourg-En-Vol to find the professor's home. Driven by the desire to finally find a way to wake up every morning, he found the courage to push the door of the white building, where a young boy, introducing himself as Pirath, was waiting already. Maeda feigned to ignore him, even though he would not forget the kind-looking boy. The professor finally arrived and, after a short conversation with Pirath and a failed attempt to discuss with Maeda, offered to them the dream of every children in the Pokémon world : he handed three Pokéballs to both kids, suggesting them to choose one Pokémon amongst these three to become their new companion. Maeda then faced three Pokémons that, each in their own, were incarnating the three kinds of Pokémon that Maeda cannot like : the first was a small bipedal creature with a smooth and golden skin, somewhat looking like a semblance of human, the second was a kind of a metallic object, looking anything but alive, made of metal and electricity and seeming to lack any kind of conscience or emotion, and the third one was a kind of a vegetable caricature of a fragile baby doll. But the three beings, even though he wanted none of them, where his only chance to ever become a Pokémon trainer. He ended up accepting the company of the one who had chosen him.

More in roleplay (Only in French, though. Also, these roleplays date back from 2009 thus are quite poorly written, and some things (such as character names) has changed since :
